Sad News Today

I was informed this evening that our Miss Sally Braman has gone on to be with her Sweetheart who had gone ahead to wait for her.
I will be having more information when the family lets me know what is being planned. Lakewood Village sends their prayers and sympathies to her closest friends and families as she will be missed.
********
I believe that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. We will miss Miss Sally.

Big, Big Bunco

The largest Bunco group yet this year gathered at the clubhouse.
21 very good players came together for a lot of giggles.
Most bunco won for the evening went to Michael with a total of
3 and he was completely satisfied.
First place with 19 games winning went to Nancy S.
We have enjoyed having her mother come to play with us. We wish her a safe journey back up north.
2nd and 3rd came to a tie . Sue, jean, sandy and Delanah and the winners were
Sandy and Delanah . The hot seat tonight went to our Mr. Bunco Glen and we hope to see him next week.

Our greatest triumph is rising every time we fall.

Line dancers

The Lakewood Village line dancers gave it a wonderful try this morning.

These girls come out each Monday morning at 10 to practice these tricky steps. Some day maybe they will show the Village what they have done.

This is another example what Lakewood Village does to make things so much fun to live here.

Thanks June for thinking of us...

Shuffleboard is now here..

Yes!!!

Shuffleboard is now going full strong with as many as 20 players. Pictured here are some from a few years ago but most are still playing.
Your games are played each Wednesday morning at 10 at the courts in the A section. Anyone can come over and sign up to play. As of Today they have 1 leader of points after 2 weeks. Everybody watch out for ROBIN....
The first week in March they will hold a picnic for all the players and give a few awards for the season.
Hopefully they will be sending an update each week on the progress.....
If you have any questions, Bob and Marilyn C will be happy to answer them and perhaps introduce you to this exciting game.

news just in...

This is what it looks like in China (Maine).
These are Don and Carol T., grandchildren enjoying the heavy snow. They seem to be having a wonderful time.
Thanks Don for sharing your family with us...

Pot-luck dinner

The Pot-luck dinner in your clubhouse this month was a wonderful experience.
There were 3 full tables of the most delicious foods you could imagine. Everyone brought something that we could all enjoy and there was extra for everyone. The new Social club worked very hard in setting up the room and the buffet tables. The weather turned cooler so we all gathered around and waited for those lucky 50/50 numbers to be called. It turns out to be Don T. and we were all pleased.
There were at least 50 people who were able to visit and get to know some of their friends and neighbors. I noticed we had a few new residents and then some past residents. It was a nice experience for everyone to chat about new and old times.
Many thanks to all who came and to those who worked the evening.
After the meal, your President of the social club, John D. made several announcements that included the up coming Valentine's day dinner which there will be more information coming soon. This will include dinner, dancing to live music and entertainment for $8.00. Keep watching and I will have more for you soon.
The ladies luncheon tea is also set for Feb. with more information coming soon and this will include lunch, tea and entertainment for $5.00. There will be limited seating for this event.
~~~~~
Keep watching as the news comes in that you might be interested in....
ducks in the Village
Last night this baby duck was lost and Robin and Beth adopted it for the night. It was getting dark and night was here, so they took it in and kept it warm. This morning Robin took it back out to have him ready for his momma. She was so happy to see her little lost baby.
We really have some caring people living here in our Village.
We don't encourage people to feed the wild animals but this was helping the family get back together.
Thanks for the cute story Peggi....
This Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. in our Village Clubhouse is January's Pot-Luck night. The theme for the month is a Hispanic flare
but you are encouraged to bring your favorite dish. Please bring a dish or plate to feed your family as this will be put on the buffet table for all to enjoy. Lakewood Village Social club will furnish plates, etc. along with coffee and cold drinks. Donations as always are accepted as there is no charge for the evening.
In the past we have always enjoyed this hour or so with our neighbors and friends while having a very pleasant dinner.
Take the time and come over to see what everyone is talking about.
Sad News Today
I was just informed of the passing of one of the finest ladies in our Village.
This is Barb E. with her gentle childhood friend, Geri, whom has been ill for a spell.
We send our prayers to the family of Geraldine "Geri" Colucci and hope they know that we are thinking of them. Our sympathies are with her husband and children.
If you wish, you may visit http://www.brunellefuneralhome.com/ to share photos, condolences, or memories. She was the original purple lady of Lakewood Village......
Your Monday Village Line Dancers convene at 10:00 a.m. each week to practice their steps.
This week they came up with the "Lakewood Village Shuffle." This is one that they put together and are having a ball doing.
Perhaps you might want to come over and see all that they do during their hour of dancing.
Good Luck guys...
