Birthday Girls

Wishing 2 of our giggly girls in the Village
a very happy birthday.
Between the two of them they have over
a hundred years, mind you, I'm not
telling ages...
Love to both of you and hope this is one of
your happiest birthdays yet.

Pete and Peg

Our good friends Pete and Peg have arrived
home from their visit to N.H.in the winter.
~~~~
Glad to be home from their first visit to N.H. in
4 years and the temp was minus 29.
Needless to say they planned their outdoor trips
very carefully.
A lot of indoor games were played with the
children and grandchildren.
Time spent with Dad and Mary
made for a very memorable visit.
Coming home to a house without heat was
a shock but they will adjust to it.
~~
Good to see you made home and looking
forward to seeing you both around.
Arrangements are made
Hello All,
~~~~
This is a note from Judy DeCherico's Niece,
Carol Confino.
***
Arrangements have been made to have Aunt Judy's
service on Thursday at 1:30.
A graveside service conducted by
Monsignor of St. Daniel's church will be held.
I am trying to follow her wishes to the letter.
I have a desperate need to give her the respect
and dignity that she deserves.
A bittersweet note is that Thursday is Uncle Nick's birthday.
She is in my head and heart.
My love to you and I know that you will give a thought
to us tomorrow and smile a prayer to a truly
Wonderful woman.
****
We thank Carol and yes we will be thinking of
the family.

Winter in Canada

Thanks Leween...

Historic Day

Today continues our day in History.
A new President will be inaugrated and
we can all be a part of it.
It is an easy choice as it is on television at 12 noon
and by watching
you can be part of this celebration.
This is the 44th President of the
United States of America.

Life is not a problem to be solved,
but a gift to be enjoyed.

Hudson, Wisconsin. We knew it was
cold here but the upper Midwest is
really having a cold, cold spell.
Now aren't you glad you are here???

Enjoy our cool weather as summer
is coming.

News from friends

Had news from Hazel P. this morning
that Ed is having a really rough time.
He has been ill for several years and the
family is with him now.

Hazel will let us know how is coming along
in the next several days.

Our prayers are with her and the family
~~~~~
Hazel is the sister to Dorothy Martin who
lives just several places from her in Indiana.
Dorothy has her family close to her so she
does have some comfort to lean on.
We are thinking of all of them as they
were Villagers for many years.
Hospital stay.
A quick note on Eleanor C. Lot 241
*****
Eleanor had her surgery and is doing very
well. She now has her own room that if
you wish, can send her a good wish or two.
Room 437
at the Indian River Medical Center
here in Vero.
She would just love to hear from you.
Judy DeCherico
I am so sorry to report the passing of another of
one of our oldest and sweetest ladies in our Village.
~~~~
Judy was born on July 2, 1918
and went to be with her darling on
January 6, 2009.
~~~
Her husband Nick was with her until July 16, 2008
when he went on to greet her last night.
They had been married 57 years and had lived here in
our Village for over 36 years. A 57
~~~~
We will remember her for her famous homemade
apple pie which she so wonderfully donated to any
function that we asked for. They were so yummy.
~~~~
Nick and Judy were members of our Resident Owned
Corporation and we enjoyed the time that they spent
with us.
This morning I sat with Robin & Beth Virtue, along with
Bo and Pat Andreason who have been like Judy's children for
the past many years and they had so many wonderful
stories to tell of both Nick and Judy.
~~~
Judy's family will be arriving today to make the final
arrangements to take Judy back up north to be with
Nick.
******
If there is to be any memorial service her family will
let us know and we will act on it.
***
This has been a sad week for all of us but we will
be sending our prayers and express our deepest
sympathies to all of the family and friends.
***
A true realty bargain is when you get good neighbors.
We just lost one of the best.

Bob LaBelle

As so many of you know by now,
our dear and good friend Bob has passed away.
Bob was born on July 21, 1925 and
went to his
maker on January 2, 2009.
~~~~
Bob and his lovely wife, Alice, have been
residents of our Village for many years and
was known by all of you.
They both attended most of our functions
and always had a good time.
Bob served as a board member for several years
and was often nearby with a helping hand,
he usually had a word or two to say
and we always listened to him
even tho' he would deny it.
~~~~~
He is survived by his wife Alice, 3 sons and
a daughter. There are several grandchildren.
They are with her now and have
been helping her cope with all the
arrangements that have to be done.
~~~
As of this moment:
There is a Memorial Service to be
held in our Village Clubhouse on
Wednesday, January 7,
from 4 to 7 p.m.
*****
Each of us grieve in our own way and I know that
Alice will have a hard time not having her
sweetheart around so suddenly.
Your prayers and
best wishes
will mean much to her.
~~~~
From all of us in Lakewood Village,
we extend our
most heartfelt condolences.
****
A final note!
The memorial service was held and was a
beautiful tribute to a fine man.
We thank our own Bill M for the
wonderful and touching kind words that
he presented to all of those who attended
this afternoon of memories.
Thank you Karen for your music that
we have always enjoyed.
May Bob rest in peace.

We want to add a few get well wishes to several of our
Village people.

at this post. Will try to keep you informed when

~~~
Rose L.
sometime next week. She had been under the weather
with her family and hope she is feeling better by now.
Village doing really wonderful.
Way to go Nanc.
Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary to one of our most dedicated
couples in our Village.
John and Grace will be celebrating their 33rd wedding
anniversary tomorrow quietly, if they can.
We will all want to wish them a wonderful day
and to have many more.
Brr Brr Brr
This morning the traditional Polar Bear Swim went
on as scheduled, sorta.
We aren't sure who everyone was but do know
that all who showed up had a morning of shivers
and many laughs.
~~~
This is done each January 1
and you are invited
to take a dip in our beautiful pool.
Of course the HOT
tub is also available and it was
definately taken advantage of!
~~~~
Our hats(clothes) off to you mighty brave
Villagers.
May we see you all again next January 1.
~~~
Happy New Year Everyone

We survived

The New Year's Eve party was a huge success
according to everyone that I talked to this morning.
Did you see yourself having a wonderful time?
~~~~
The clubhouse was decorated beyond any that ever
had been done before.
The food, streamers, lights, favors and the beautiful
ball dropping at midnight had everyone having
the time of their lives.
~~
Your committee must be congratulated for thinking
of everything and having it appreciated by the
full house of Village people.
~~~~
Your local line dancers gave their presentation of
what you can do with weekly practicing and it certainly
was worth watching.
Thank you ladies
~~
The night ended with everyone wishing each one
a Happy New Year and looking forward to
when we can all get together during
2009.
