More on Easter

Today we will focus on Sunday.
FAMILY
Perhaps we need to create new family holiday traditions and fellowships.
Lets enjoy the feeling of spring in our Village.
Take pictures for the next generation and share the burden of
setting up the traditional dinner feast whatever or wherever it may be held.
Have some fun at your Spring gathering and remember why
we are celebrating this wonderful holiday.
Perhaps you will be joining friends in a church service as this
is one beautiful day in the Christian spirit.
There's nothing more important than enjoying yourself with the
ones you love. Relax and feel the stress ease away as you
catch up on old times and exchange ideas.
There are 5 things you cannot recover in life:
1-The stone after it's thrown
2-The word after it's said
3-The occasion after it's missed
4-The time after it's gone and
5-A person after they die.
We in Lakewood Village wish you all a safe and Happy Easter this year.

Easter week

Please come.....Family Easter Breakfast and egg hunt.
Saturday April 3 at 9:00 a.m. in our fun Clubhouse.
Your social club is sponsoring the morning with excitement promised for all
our residents to enjoy.
Perhaps if we look real hard we might even see a guest or two. We are one very lucky Village
with so many volunteers to keep these programs going.
Last year we had several of our residents enjoying the free breakfast and I know we will
remember the good times that were had by all. Don't miss out on this gathering on Saturday.
Don't forget this is for all the young at heart...

Big Bunco Scores

The night was once again received very well by 16
players.
The evening was spent in great competition once again.
Most Bunco's this week....
Barb
Most Games won:
A tie between Dolores and Barb
(sorry Bo maybe next week)
The hot seat this week was earned by our
Nancy C.
She worked so hard for it. Good show.

On another Note!!!!
Next week the players are going to have a lunch
with all the players. Each are supplying a snack
to finish off the night.
We know several will be heading back up north so
we want to send them on their way with a laugh and belly
full. See you all next Monday.

Easter week

We are getting ready for the upcoming Easter week. We will begin with the thought of an Easter parade. The Easter parade is an American cultural event consisting of a promenade on Easter Sunday. Typically, it is a somewhat informal and unorganized event.
Persons participating in an Easter parade traditionally dress in fashionable new clothes. Out comes the beautiful dresses along with the decorated hats, gloves. Truly to impress everyone. We here in Village will just have to do with perhaps a Sunbonnet, flip-flops and a coverall over our bathing suits. It is a day to have fun.
Next we will look into a traditionally Easter Egg hunt and I will cook this up for possibly on tomorrow's information. Here in the Village we are always looking for ways to have fun.
Keep tuned in....................

Good News

Just had word.....

Barb E. has been released from the hospital
and the family is with her.
We are so happy to have her back in the
Village with us.
Stay healthy Barb...

Another note.
Doug B. is still in the hospital with his family
attending to his needs. He is slowly responding
to their treatments and we certainly wish them
well.

Another note.

Bob O. is back home after another hospital stay.
The family is looking after him and YES Bob it
is ok to complain when it hurts.
It really takes a long time to come back after you
have been down for so long.
We know that all our friends will work hard and
listen to the professionals so that they can
join in our wonderful activities once again.

Community Sale

Today the Village held their yearly community
yard sale with a brisk turnout.
Many treasures were found and the Social
Club was pleased with their hard work.
Everyone who came were happy with the
assortment of wares that were presented.
Your Social Club prepared many different types
of soup and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for
our pleasure. Guests were pleased with the hot foods
and delighted with the final results.
Thank you!!!!! All you wonderful volunteers who worked
so hard for your Village. We appreciate your dedication.
We all look forward to when we can do this again
soon.

Something to think about

There has been some interest expressed in the recording of our
Village functions now and in the past. I have only taken pictures but some were taping the event. If anyone out there would like to share their recording treasure please give GRACE G. a call and she will direct you. This is a wonderful idea for any season here in our community with our large screen available to you all. It will be so much fun to look back and see what everyone has done and how we have changed. Please check your camera's and libraries for anything helpful to this project.
Thank you - Good show Grace..
If you check out, on the right for" Lakewood Village links" and "Lakewood Village web pages", you will find some valuable information about our Community. Craig's List also is available.

Another note! Monday April 12 will be the last community cook-out in the A section. Please put this on your must do list....

Palm Sunday

We are fast approaching Palm Sunday and we would like to
observe this special day.
Palm Sunday is the sixth and last Sunday of Lent and the
beginning of Holy week.
The date for Palm Sunday 2010 is 28 March.
Each one can enjoy this day in their own way and we
wish everyone a pleasant one.

Suffleboard finals.

Today was the final shuffleboard tournament games.
Time for a little relaxation after the meal that they all
consumed.
Marilyn and Martha made sure that everyone had plenty to
eat before sending them on their way.
Out came the chicken and sub sandwiches along with some
other outstanding dishes. Even the wonderful brownies
that June brought over were appreciated.
At least 15 people showed up to enjoy the last league play
of Lakewood Village's shuffleboard for the season.
The equipment is available to all residents who wish to
practice up on the very easy game.
Check it out....and have some fun.
Thanks once again to Miss Peggi.

Hospital News

Several reports from the hospital!
Barb E. has been in the hospital this week having multitude of tests done.
The family is with her to cheer her on.
We are watching this beautifully frail lovely lady closely. Her family will keep us posted.
Doug B. also is in the local hospital for the second time and the doctors are keeping a close watch on him. You all know Doug as he is on our Board of Directors and we are
sending our dear Peg and the family our prayers.
In Melbourne our Dick M. has been resting for several months and we are waiting
word as to his condition.
Also we know that Ernie H. is just down the hall from Dick and we hope that they are being neighborly as they were here in our Village.
If someone whom we here in the Village know and who could use a pick-r-uper let us know and we will do what we can.
Our prayers go out to our neighbors and wish them all a speedy recovery.
The best time to make friends is before you need them.

A reminder!!!

This week-end is important to your Village.
Our community yard sale will be this Sat. March 27
at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot and the A section picnic area.
Hopefully everyone will rent a space and display items for sale
that they no longer need.
John D. has the line-up for the tables so get in touch with him and request a spot.
The kitchen will be open along with the Cake-wheel for those yummies that we all crave. This is a project that your Social Club works to keep their functions
going through out the year.
Take the time and support your community with your presence.
See you all there...selling or buying..... Good Luck to you all.....

Bunco winners

Bunco produced some great scores in our clubhouse this week.

Sorry Mickey!!!!
Maybe next week...

Most bunco's this week went to the host:
Barb with 5 buncos.
Most games won by
Bo A with 21. Great playing
The Hot seat goes this week to:
Frank. He does a lovely dance.
We thank all of you who came out and helped to
make the evening fun. We missed some who were
unable to show up but hopefully next week.
I believe that you can keep going long after you
think you can't. Just keep trying.....

Ruth Thayer

Just had word that a dear old friend of Lakewood Village
had gone to be with her sweetheart in their
heavenly home.
You may remember Ruth along with her husband
Floyd who had a vision of Lakewood Village growing
into a beautiful family park. They had invested into
several homes that were added to our
community.
Floyd left us several years ago and his wife ,Ruth,
moved with their children so she has been away
and now is at peace.

May we all send our condolences to their families
and thank them for allowing us to
know a beautiful couple.

St. Pat's Dinner/Dance

This is the crew that assembled this wonderful evening for us all. Our hats are off to you all.

You didn't need to be Irish to enjoy the Traditional dinner and dance that your Social club presented in our Green Village Clubhouse.

The Crew that Ray and Martha assembled to direct this wonderful evening came together and produced a plentiful meal that had everyone licking their lips for more. There was not a seat left in the house, it was a complete sellout

Music by Jerry Mc. was to the liking of so many that there was always someone dancing on the floor and all had a fantastic time. Even the Village Line Dancers got up and presented their version of a very difficult line dance that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Way to go dancers.

Celicia's brother, Sarge, will have a birthday on Monday so she made sure he had a beautiful birthday cake to share with everyone. Thank you and Happy Birthday to Sarge!
The 50/50 was won by a very nice gentleman but I'm not sure he got home without Toots keeping a safe eye (hand) on it. Congratulations to you!

The door prize was drawn and the winner was The Shepke's, who were unable to attend, and someone will deliver it to them.

There were many fun pictures taken through out the night so we know everyone had the enjoyable evening that they expected. The evening produced so many new and old faces coming together, once more, just like we used to do often.

We are so fortunate to have such caring and wonderful people who really love our Village and I wish to take the time to salute you once more for an outstanding job!

Well done!
The evening ended on a very positive note and we vowed to continue to get together again real soon at our community yard sale next Saturday. We hope everyone will participate and respond with a visit.

April 3, 2010 will be our Bon Voyage Potluck Dinner, we hope you have put it on your schedule of things not to miss. We will be letting you know more real soon.

The weather is getting more like Florida everyday so let's all get out and enjoy all that we have to offer.

Lost time is never found again...

Wild Flowers

Someone e-mailed me with the suggestion that I go
and check out the South section as they were sure
that someone had scattered flower seeds all around.
Well, me with my camera in hand went over and
drove all around and sure enough someone had
blown flower seeds all over, all over. I'm afraid that
it really wasn't any human being that had scattered
these as these purple flowers were what comes up
whenever you forget to mow your lawn.
Perhaps if they were a thicker on the yards you
might consider them flowers, otherwise get out
your sneeze meds.
Keep looking for something pretty that we can all
enjoy driving around our Village.... Thanks for bringing
this to our attention....

In the hospital

Have had word that Doug B. is back in the hospital.
He had come home and slowly recovering when they
decided he needed more medical care.
Peg can keep you updated on his condition if you want
to contact her in a day or two, in the mean time,we
will be keeping a close watch on what is happening.
Hurry up and come back to your Village Doug.....

Wednesday WII Games

Bowling at Lakewood Village Clubhouse..
And you too can come and join in the fun. This is only for a few short weeks so check it out.

Last night we went over to our Village Clubhouse to check out what all the commotion was about.  And what we came across was a group of laughing and jumping around grown people.  This was all about the WII games that have caught on with our Village people.  Several teams were assembled to learn to play this exciting commuter game.  Bowling was their passion and everyone who came enjoyed the excitement of the team competition.  We were sorry that some who came the first week were unable to attend this week but rest assured they will welcome you back next week as there is always room for more.

Treats were in evidence around the room as they were bowling but sure didn't interfere with their games.  It was a fun evening for everyone who showed up and we thank Gail & Connie for setting this up with their wonderful crew.

Winners will be announced when I receive them if they want me to put them here.
See you all next week at 7:00 on Wednesday in our Clubhouse.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important

VISITORS

I had some nice news from Hazel P. Hazel is one of our yearly
snowbirds who have been with us for many years and she has
had visitors here in the Village from up north...

In her words:

Two of my friends from Kokomo visited with me. Betty H and
Bertha E, My daughter and her husband, Jan and Steve M were
here the 6th of Feb. My niece and her husband came the 9th of March and
stayed until the 12th. Patty and Gregg D. She is Dorothy M's
daughter. They enjoyed walking on the beach in their sweats and eating
Florida fresh sea foods. The weather wasn't too good but at least they didn't
have to walk in snow.

It sounds like she has had a busy month here in our cool Village. It is great
that she shares her good fortune with us. Thank you....

her to know that we are thinking of her.
If you would like to send her a get well card or an
expression of thank you, you can leave your card
at the office and they will see that she receives it.
We all hope she recovers quickly and extend our

New Week

That's right...A new week is coming up and we are going to have some fun.
The weather kept everyone inside this past week but the sun has finally come out and we want to fire up that grill.
With all the rain that we have had the Village yards are really starting to green up again, and would you take a look at our lake. We sure have a pretty looking Village.
We are sorry that our (office manager)Kryse is at home with several medical problems. We all hope she can get up and move around again real soon. We are thinking of you.
All the usual activities are still up and running for this week and ending with our St. Pat's dinner on Saturday. Please get your tickets and your table seating. Tuesday at coffee hour the last tickets will be available so don't miss out on the fun evening that your Social Culb has planned for you ,which starts at 5:00.
On another note: Wednesday WII games will continue and you can still sign up for this fun game being held in our spacious clubhouse. Gail can advise you on what must be done. So come out on Wednesday night at 7:00 and join this good group of Villagers.
Your Editor had to go back to the great northwest as several of her grand babies are ill and St'e needed her mother to help out. Our thoughts are with this wonderful family. Hopefully she will let us know what is happening.
On a final note: No one is in charge of your happiness but YOU

The Bunco gang all got together and seated 5 full tables this week.
The entire group did a lot of laughing and ended up in several ties.
Most Bunco's for the evening went to:
Beth V and Delanah H. with 3 each.
Most games also ended in a tie:
Nancy C and Delanah H. with 20 games each.
The HOT seat this week was no surprise and this player couldn't even buy a 6 and
that goes to Barb. Sorry gang you had
such a poor partner but promises to do
better next week.
The games just get better each week and hope you all will take the time to come and watch whatever the fun is all about.
Many thanks to the treat givers:
Rita, Patti, Connie and whoever donated..
We all enjoyed them.

Everyone had a nice time and will return next

My thanks go to Jo for getting me these scores for the last month or so
and hope that she has a safe and happy journey home.. We all have
enjoyed having you here.

Bocci Banquet

Hostess and Host
Bullit, Doris and Mike
Even though the weather didn't co-operate the Bocci players continued to have themselves a ball...
They joined together for a picnic in our beautiful clubhouse for a presentation of really good and fun food that they all helped to prepare.
Because of the rain, Friday will be the last competition games to determine who will take home the trophy. At the moment it is a tie and only one will be victorious.
We all wait anxiously to see who goes home the winner.
**************
I want to thank Beth for sending me these fun pictures and hope you all enjoy them.
