Summer Fun

Taniya and Diane (another one) sheering a sheep

S'te and son Ty having a great time!

These are pictures from your Editor way up Northwest.
The family has been busy, busy when they all get together.
The time is spent with much laughter and a lot of work.
They not only have sheared sheep and rode the horses but
did a little river riding and a lot of gardening. Diane has
put in a well rounded garden with the hopes that they all
would have the chance to eat healthy. She claims that she
is the one who really enjoys her fruits of flavor.
It is always a joy to hear from your editor as they really do
live life to the fullest.

Hopefully she will be sending more of her adventures.
FYI from Diane: If you'd like to see some more wonderful pics of the Oregon area click HERE to see the beautiful pictures S'te took while in Coos County, Oregon!!

Welcome home Barbara

We all welcomed home Barb E. from her visit with
family and old dear friends.
The family gathered for dinner and did a lot of
reminiscences of yesterdays.
Barbara's new granddaughter , Alexis Rose, who
turned 4 mos. was christened while the family was
all there. A wonderful experience.
Did a visit with old Village friends, Tony & Geri C.
who now have a place where there is the much needed
help that they both enjoy.
Donna & Jim
will be coming in for a visit this week-end where they
will all remember the ballgames and other activities that
they shared while together last week.
It is such a joy to have Barb back in the fold once
again and look forward to
the big night of Bingo tomorrow @ 6:15
in our clubhouse.
See you all there to welcome her back..

Happy Anniversary

I understand that Elmer and Gerry B. are
celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
This has been a wonderful time and place in our
Village to spend these precious moments.
We wish you many more years of contentment with
us.
Lakewood Village is proud to have you both
living here.
Congratulations.
~~~
We all will want to wish a Happy Anniversary to another wonderful couple
on their 55 years.
Doug and Peggy B.
`
This was a popular year for weddings in this generation.
They will be spending it up north with their
Loved ones, but here in the Village, we will
be remembering them until they return
this fall.
The best year ever to the two of you
Congratulations.
Friends
Hope You Had A Good Week
~~
Joan W. in Canada had their big birthday bash yesterday.
The whole family showed up to celebrate everyone's birthday that
just happened to land in July.
This is an annual event and they each bring some food and stories
to share.
The most important one is when her next grandbaby will make
the arrival. They are still waiting as we are.
We are sure it was the biggest event and the most successful
year yet.
~~
Tea Party
`
Connie S. held a tea party for her granddaughter, Gabby at her
house that was so much fun. They all sat around and gabbed
and each did their nails. Oh my the colors that came out of this.
The tea's were to each's choosing and the little sandwiches and tea
cakes were simply delicious.
No guys were around so they had a wonderful giggly and happy
afternoon.
That Nanny is one of a kind.
~
Dave & Bev F.
~
This was a sad but wonderful visit from two very nice people.
We had heard that they were moving and it was really a joy to have
received a visit from them to let us know that they will be returning some
time this winter for a visit.
It is not always that when someone moves that they really are sad about
leaving our Village but I'm sure that this is the case.
We will be looking forward to seeing them again.
We wish them the best of luck on the road
Resident News
Bo and Pat A. have informed me that they are doing well during all
their remodeling of their home up north.
The weather has been ideal. 59 in the morning and high 80 in
the afternoon. They still get lots of rain but that is typical.
Thanks for letting us know you are well and happy.
~~~
Rod and Deb C. are leaving for their northern destination in
order to go to their family reunion. Deb's mom has already
left to meet them there. They are taking a much needed
break from their activities here. We salute them for all
the work they have done with our successful $ Bingo.
~~~~~
Last night saw a moving truck over at Dave and Bev F.. and
we stopped. Yep, they sold their dream house and will
be leaving us. What a sad note for all of us. We really
will miss the both of them but wish them all the best of
luck wherever they go.
~~~~~
Barb E. will be back this week-end and will be bringing
us lots of interesting stories to tell. I do know that she
had visits with her family and in one instance with an
old and dear friend from our village. I will put on the
results of her vacation once she returns.
~~~~
If you know of anyone who is away, and would like
to share with the Village, let someone know and will
try to report to you.
Sad News today
I just received some bad news from
Judy DeCherico. Her husband Nick
could no longer fight his illness.
He has been lifted to a place without pain.
She is one brave lady and at the
moment is with her family up north.
Nick and Judy A 57, have been
Lakewood Village residents for
almost longer than anyone else.
If you ever needed a key made,
Nick was right there
to help you - right now!
Lakewood Village will miss this fine,
dedicated wonderful person.
A memorial is being set up at this moment.
Gail (atA33) will be available to anyone
wishing to express your thoughts to Judy .
Please keep Nick & Judy in your prayers.
Ralph L.
This is your fun loving Ralph
We have learned that Ralph,
who was a long time Village resident,
has been hospitalized for tests, etc.
For those who remember him,
he and Teresa S. managed the
Lakewood Village Golf league.
Ralph plans on returning this fall to continue
with the activities he enjoys so much.
We wish him a speedy recovery
and look forward to his return.
My thanks to Lew for the information.
Happy Bingo Winners
What a happy group of enthusiast bingo players Tuesday night. Everyone had a wonderful time in spite of the rainy, wet weather. We all applaud Nancy C., Deb & Rod for showing us how much fun $1.00 bingo can be!
If you want to have a happy, fun time and even win some big bucks??? be sure to come Tuesday at 6:15 in our clubhouse.
Our gratitude goes with Nancy as she
will be going on vacation this week.
Hope Nancy and Lou enjoy their summer.
We appreciate the crew who will be taking over next week.
From your residents
We have it so many of our Villagers are either on vacation or are leaving for a visit with family and friends.
Lou and Nancy C. will be going up north to spend time with the family and will return sometime in September. They will be missed by the RO board and the Social Club. Enjoy your hard earned vacation!
~
John and Jessie C. will be on and extended vacation for the rest of the summer. They plan on going from coast to coast with some of their family. We know they will be having a wonderful time.
~
Barb E.. is with her family up north and enjoying her grandchildren. We hope the time spent with them will keep her laughing but we will miss her input here. Until she returns we will wish her some happy memories.
~
On another note!
Nick D. has been in Hospice as his health has been failing. He has had a
rough time but continues to fight. Our prayers are with him and his devoted
wife, Judy.
Love the people who treat you right,
Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is 10% what you make it &
90% how you take it.
Coffee Hour
Today marked the end of our weekly coffee hour due to our residents on vacation and etc. This has been a highlite of our week when we all tried to get together and chat about what we are doing.
Your SC president has informed us that she will be getting a new hour going the 6th of September.
We highly praise the Social Club and all its member for keeping
this going thru these last months and I know we will be looking
forward to this fall when we will begin to have their wonderful
coffee and delicious donuts.
Good luck to all this summer.
~
Don't worry about tomorrow!
After all, today is the tomorrow you worried
about yesterday.
Thought for Today
We all need someone so, today lets look up a friend
News from friends
Received news from several of our Villagers.
The Dutille's have made it to Piermont N.H.
and are enjoying all their 35,000 cows
and 750 people! The horse farms
look pretty good too.
Peg is enjoying all the fun with the grandkids
as we well know that this is her passion.
All along with her news came a tibbet from
Vinci W.
Friday and Saturday she will be celebrating her
birthday in Germany.
Their tradition is to entertain all their
friends and that is what they do best.
Our congratulations to a royal lady.
Big News
Virginia R. has checked in with some wonderful news.
On July 1, 1995 she has kept track of all the miles
that she done in swimming.
These miles have added up to at the moment of 2,900.
This has been done in 13 years and still going strong.
She has 100 miles to go to reach her goal.
She is hoping those fires in CA. are not to hot to swim
through.
When she returns to our Village she will have
completed her mission and
we will all be anxious to hear more of her experiences.
We are so proud of our own Virginia.
The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime.
It is never to late to become what you might have been.
Independence Day at Lakewood Village
The 4th of July was held in our beautifully
decorated clubhouse with a wonderful turnout.
The most memorable moment was when our
Flags were raised.
First the American flag and then our Canadian flag.
Everyone sang our national anthem and O Canada.
A touching moment for everyone.
The fishing Contest started very early in the morning. 11 fishing sportsman (and 1 sportswoman) were outbefore the sun and caught a good measurable variety of our lake's fish. This was to be under the direction of John Davis but he was called away on a family emergency and turned over the honors
to Jim M. We wish to thank him and Doug for their time and help with these anglers. Each angler received a prize.
Cake Wheel
Everyone always enjoys playing our annual game of winning a cake. There was a large assortment for everyone to choose from. Last few cakes then were auctioned off.
Our thanks to Carlos, Nancy S. Eleanor S. and Barb E.
Parade
This was to be our bike parade but we had a large assortment of bikes and Carts. They were all decorated up beautiful and prizes were awarded.
Our thanks went to Carlos B and his crew for
all the work they put in on this great project.
Food, Food.
Along came the food that your SC board prepared. They had the help of all those who donated salads, desserts and goodies. Kitchen was run by Phllyis B, Dot B. and that good looking guy with the hat. The grill was kept going by Sal and his crew.
Great job guys.
50/50
This was a whooping good sound when Barb E. had
the winning ticket. We really enjoy seeing our
residents win in this drawing.
Too bad she didn't have this last week....
Have a good time with your good luck.
Games
The Crossings Church once again came thru with
their outstanding entertainment for the kids
(big & little). They had everyone jumping for joy..
Adding a snowcone along the way.
We really appreciate all the interest
they take in our community.
Thank you and come back again.
Bingo for the kids came next with
anyone who played won several prizes.
Nancy C. and her committee did a great job
of making all happy.
Swimming came next and so many went to the pool
to join in the swimming games.
They reported they really had a wet time.
This was under the direction of Amber M.
and we thank
her for all her patience working with our kids.
Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July party.
This was done by all your support to the
Lakewood Village Social Club.
Be sure you take the time to tell them what
a great job they did. I know I will..
Check this out..
Lew and June G.
Just back home from a much too brief
vacation inWisconsin to be with family.
While there Lew did his usual stint working as
a starter for the June Sprints at
Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wi.
June crewed for their son Greg who came in
2nd in the H Production Class.
There were over 500 drivers divided into
about 25 different classes,
so it was a long and busy week-end.
Residents may now be surprised to see another
bald-headed man with a familiar face.
Lew decided to shave all his hair off to give moral
support to his long-time friend Vern,
who just went through Chemo.
Vern has visited Lakewood Village,
and he used to crew for
Lew in his racing days.
My thanks to June for all this up-date information.
It is so interesting to hear about one of our own.
Make sure you stop and talk to that
newly balded man with his dog.
In spite of the nasty weatherBingo was held and what a surprise we all had.
Some of our brave guys showed up
and we actually had a good time.
This is held Tues. at 6:30 and we now
send out a special invite to all,
including you brave guys because
you too could be a winner.
Nothing like a good laugh and
maybe even win a bit.
Thanks to all who showed up to
support our Social Club efforts.
See you next Tuesday.
