Labor Day to share

***** Time for picnic is posted here.........

Labor day holiday is celebrated in United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894. In most other countries May l, is celebrated instead.
Here in our Village we hope to honor our Men and Women by saluting them on Saturday at our special Labor Day Picnic here in our beautiful clubhouse.
When the information is complete I will let you know what exactly is planned but try to keep Saturday open.*********************
I have just received my fly er.....
Yes there is a family picnic this Saturday at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon but games will be playing through out the day.
Please bring a covered dish to share with the buffet table as the meat will be provided.
There will be somethings different this picnic, so come over and catch up on all the fun.
****
We all need to get out and get some fresh air and watch the fun that our Village people are having. See you all there.

Another week here

We want to start the week and month off with a few Good wishes..

*******************************

Dave A. will be celebrating his birthday and we are very pleased to see him up and running around. Well not exactly running but he is moving pretty good now after his surgery. Hope you enjoy your day as we wish you only the best.

*************

Another birthday to take notice is: Karen M. I had the good fortune to run into her the other day and was told that she is celebrating her 39th birthday. She is so excited about this that she was going right out and get her ice cream and cake. Have some fun Karen as we wish you a very happy day. Sorry I don't sing but let be known you can sing Happy Birthday if you wish.

*******

My September celebration list for our Village people is very small so if you wish to let us know you will be adding something new to your life, let us know.

Sad News Today

Once again I have received some sad news.
Our friendly neighbor Willam (Lou) Conners
went to meet with his heavenly father this morning
in Penn. Nancy was with him and she has some of her
family with her to help her grieve.
Debbie & Rod are leaving Lakewood Village in a day or two
to go up and be with her mother and lend her support.
There will be a memorial service up north on Wednesday with
their family . When Nancy can return to our Village she wants
to have a celebration of life right here at Lakewood.
We want her to know that everyone knew Lou and admired him
for all the help he gave to Lakewood Village.
Our condolences are with them all.

Just a few words

Here it is the week-end and it is still hot.
********
Had word from Deb C. that Lou C. is not doing very
well and Nancy is with him at all times. Lou is at
a stage that he is still in the hospital in Penn. and is
confused most of the time.
WE want to send our prayers to Lou & Nancy along
with their families.
*****
On another note....
Our neighbor David Reed A22 has passed away this
week and Tammi (his wife) has taken him up north to Georgia where
there is family. We will let everyone know as soon as
there is more information as to whatever we can do
to help our neighbors. Our condolences go with his
wife and daughter.
*****
I know that this is not the way we want to start the
week-end but you can get outside and enjoy everything
that the Village has to offer. The pool, shuffleboard along
with the picnic area are several options open to you.

Gentle words fall lightly, but they have great weight.

Busy, Busy....

Let's cheer them all on......

Well it seems that some of our northern families are busy this summer. We know that they are
looking forward to their winter at our beautiful pool.
This information was sent to me with such fun which they are all having.
A group got together in Belleville where Ron R lives. A organized golf tournament was set up for them to play in. Along with Rick and sharron were Bob & toots A, Ralph L & Lorraine, Barry and Teresa S, John and Claire L along with a group of Locals. The weather has been co-operating and they are enjoying the end of summer.
Next week-end is the long week-end that they will see John & Lew, Tom G and Dolores H. Tom and Dolores are flying into Buffalo where they will be met by their dear friends.
A great vacation for Tom and Dolores who will spend a couple weeks there before heading to Orlando. We will see them mid September. Take care and enjoy yourselves.
I know the trees will be changing colors soon so take the time and relax.
Thanks Rick for thinking of us.
*********
That was the good news....
****
Today there was a scare on the e-mail...It seems someone had hacked into one of our Villagers e-mail address book and kept us all scrambling to check it out. So beware if something looks suspicious, be careful and check out anything you think is wrong. We are still watching for something that doesn't seem real. Thanks for checking this out....

Surprise at pot-luck

Your committee gathered for this fun moment,"got to love Carole" and we want to let them know that this was very appreciated by everyone who came for dinner.

Your hard work paid off . We hope our 50/50 winner enjoys her fun money....congratulations

August Pot-luck produced several wonderful surprises.
More than 68 people attended our monthly dinner in our beautifully cool clubhouse. Everyone worked so hard at making their favorite dishes that we had a hard time making up our minds as to what we should try. I do declare we must have the best cooks in Vero Beach. Our thanks to you!!
Everyone was very patient when waiting in line to get their large dinner plates filled. It was a moment that a get acquainted conversation was heard through out the community. Several new families gathered with us for the first time and we hope that they will return next month for our September dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
57 years were acknowledged by the children of Jim and Barbara with a beautifully decorated and simply the best tasting cake for everyone to enjoy. This was a complete surprise to the old couple who had their anniversary last week. Thanks Doug, Connie, Patti and their families.
There are many other couples in our community that will be celebrating birthdays and anniversaries that I hope you will let someone know so that we can let everyone enjoy them
Cherish all the happy moments, they make a fine cushion for old age.....
news
Heard from Joey C. that his operation went well and he is back home.
Joey had some back surgery and hopefully he will be seen outside
before too long. Our thanks to Rusty for taking such good care
of our friend.
***********************
Dave A. is still at home moving very slowly but progressing ever
so well. Perhaps by the end of the week he will be up and
around the park a little.
His back surgery was deemed to be a success and we are all
so grateful for all of these talented Doctors that we have
in our area.
*******
Still haven't heard any more news on Lou C. or Debbie C's brother.
They are all still up north and it will be sometime before we hear
anything positive about them. Our prayers are with our own
dear Nancy as she is by their side at all times.
******
If you hear about one of your neighbors or a relative, please let
someone know and we could all share the news together.
*******
This Saturday is your monthly POTLUCK at 6:00 p.m. in our
clubhouse. This is a western theme and the Social Club
is furnishing the meat. Please bring your covered dish to
share on the buffet table.
Dig out those jeans and boots and stroll over.
This is a wonderful way to meet some of your neighbors and
get to know them.
Again......It is FREE
Week news
Here it is the week-end and this week brought several news items to my attention.
Betty C. had a run to the hospital after falling at home but is back taking it easy.
Her son is with her and is taking very good care of her. Thanks Donnie.
Hope Betty is feeling better and we want her to know we are thinking of her.
********************************
On the other hand....Eleanor S. spent the week-end resting at the hospital. She is now at home and feeling just fine. We all need a rest once in a while. Take care Eleanor we will be seeing you around this week-end....
Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
Comment!!!!
This came to me while I was writing about the pool party so this is what CONNIE wrote..
I would like to thank all the great people that came to our Adult Pool party. We had a wonderful group of people who came to enjoy our beautiful pool and neighbors. It is such a bonus when people automatically jump in and help through out the evening. You make it fun to help organize a function. We have such a neat group of people in our community. Our parties would be nothing without each and everyone of you.!
It's always great to be reminded why our parties mean so much. It's so good when one takes time out of their busy lives to spend time with each other. Yes, to relax, put your feet up and visit. It's so much fun when you can forget that you are all grown up and remember what it's like to play like the big kids we are. Life is so serious. Some of us still work and others have put their time in and have retired. Life holds a lot of hard work and heartaches. We can't get around it. We can't allow ourselves to just work and exist without fun. Before we know it, life is over and I don't want to have to say that I forgot to play......
So, from one Villager to another......THANK YOU
Pool party results
Last night some 40 party goers came to our beautifully, clean and inviting pool. There was a whole lot of laughing and giggling going on that our R.O. President heard about it. He gave his approval and wished all to have a happy fun time, for this we thank him.
This event was for adults to come to the warm pool for an evening of simply clean fun. Our hearts go out to Connie who on her own after consulting with our Social club, gave everyone an entire evening of water entertainment that we were looking for more. The pool and the water were waiting for everyone and was on it's best behavior. We here at the Village are so fortunate to have such a beautiful pool to enjoy and it is up to us to make sure it is kept up for the next group of swimmers.
Thanks Connie for all the work, time and expense that you put into this venture as everyone did their best to enjoy their friends and neighbors.
***********************************************************************************
Gratitude is always the right attitude.
Home again
Had a call this morning!!!
They are back...Such a happy, bubbly couple.
Pete and Peggi have been up north with their families and
to celebrate their Anniversary. Everyone was so good to them
as they fed and dined them ever so much. Along with the beautiful
Dell laptop that they are sporting and many great memories , they can keep in touch with their family as well as to
what the Village is doing. Smile....you are on camera...
Good to hear from someone who really enjoys our Village. We know that they will be
helping out with the activities coming up.
Good to have you back HOME.
ADULT POOL PARTY
Calling all ADULTS!!!!!
This Saturday night beginning at 7:00 p.m. sharp
the fun begins for all adults at our beautiful large pool.
There will be lots of funny games played with your friends and
you can jump into the water even though you are an adult...Perhaps bring a towel.
There is no charge for all this fun so bring your own drinks and
perhaps a snack to share.
Hospital News
Claudette H. is now home from her surgery and is taking it very slow. We all have trouble slowing down when we have been so active. I guess this is telling us to stop and smell the cookies one more time. Take care and hope to see you out and around soon.
Have received news of your R.O. President's condition.
David had back surgery yesterday and everything went well.
Deanna tells us that if all goes according to plan he should be coming
home on Thursday.
David has been in pain for many years so any relief he receives will be so
very welcomed. He will have 6 weeks to adjust to his new back and
we all send him our prayers for a quick and speedy recovery.
Perhaps the 1st of September he will be able to dance for his
birthday.
News from friends
Have had news from several of our winter residents. Robin and Beth V. are enjoying their summers in Scotland and are still waiting for this fall to come and return to our Village. They both are involved in our activities that they are anxious to come back to.
Next call came from Frank and Gloria F. They are still having some medical issues that are being resolved this summer and they are looking forward to returning to our Village come this winter.
Everyone is missing our wonderful weather and happy family that we have here in Lakewood Village. We hope that these two fine families have only the best of their summer so they can come and enjoy our beautiful winter.
Our thoughts are with you all:
We all screamed for IceCream
The rains came and came...They didn't let up but that didn't stop the 30 some people from coming out to your clubhouse for that FREE ice cream sundaes. The social club offered this to us all and we really enjoyed the service and the special toppings for this treat.
We might have gotten a little wet coming in but it was all worth the good time we had with those who showed up chatted and did a lot of laughing.
Hopefully more will show up for our next treat that the Lakewood Village Social prepares for us. They work so hard for us to have a good time.
A special thanks to John, Stormy, Carole, Don, Bo and Pat for getting the clubhouse set up and cleaned up. Those who came appreciated the time you spent so we could get together with our friends and neighbors.
See you all next Saturday night at the pool for their pool party...All ADULTS are invited and once again it is FREE. Come and support your Village. The kids have their own pool party....Check the flyers....
Message
Just got word about Lou C. (A13) in Pennsylvania
Lou has been in the hospital for the last 3 weeks. He needs open heart surgery asap. His lung doctor said he's not a candidate for surgery because his lungs are too bad.
He will be going into a skilled long term care facility up north as he no longer can travel.
Nancy will be staying with Lou to help all she can.
Nancy's son should be having his transplant surgery within 6 weeks so she will be with them all.
Deb and Rod will be back to the Village in the next week or so, and we will be brought up on the progress of this nice family.
Our prayers are with them all as we wait for news on their progress.
********
I need to add that Joey C A9 is in the hospital and had surgery done. Hopefully he will be coming home this week-end. Take care Joey and know that all the Village wishes you a speedy recovery.
Thanks Tamra for all your information
