Today's News.

Today news came floating in and interesting.
******
Had a call from Canada that Frank and Gloria are home but need
to have some surgery done this summer. They will do whatever it takes to get
back in shape so they can come down again this winter.
Good Luck and enjoy your summer there.
*****
Peg B. has been here for several days and did a little running around and is now
heading back up north. She plans on returning this
fall so we will all get to
visit with her when she returns.
****
John D. is back home and taking it easy so if you see him besure to
wish well in our activities.
Missed you this week....
***
E-mail from Beth and Robin:
They arrived on Thursday to 50 degree weather but sunny. Their flight was
long and they finally got some of their sleep back.
To wake up to coooool weather makes them wish they were back here to
put on their shorts and run around on their bikes.
Those pretty tans have already started to fade, boy it must be cold...
Take care and keep in touch with your family in
Lakewood Village.
****
We now have new owners in A 9 and their names are Joey and Rusty. They
will be moving in this week-end so if you see them be sure to introduce yourselves.
They are real friendly and are looking forward to watching sunrises and sunsets
from their deck.
Welcome to our Lakewood Village family.

No joy is complete unless it is shared!!!!

Bunco Winners

Mr. Bo was one of the big winners. Bunco Winner for this evening ended up with a couple of fantastic players. The group was small so we concentrated on the most buncos and for that we have our Miss Rita. She rolled 4 and we all applauded her. Great going.

Next with the most games and we have been waiting many nights for Mr. Bo to come through with 18 wins and we know he was finally happy.
This was a great night for everyone who came and bounced around playing and eating popcorn, cookies and pretzels.
The treats were provided by Patti, Rita and Dolores. Our thanks for the yummies.

See you all next week......
Mark your calendars....7:00 p.m.

Many thoughts.

This is the last week of April and things are happening. Monday night is the usual Bunco games in our clubhouse . Beginning at 7. Try to come over and join in the fun.
Tuesday is once again coffee hour at 9.am for everyone to visit with those who are still here.
Tues. night there is Bingo....
Wednesday at 7 pm is the bowling for those interested in playing several games.
We have had a scare with John D. this week-end and hopefully he is out of danger at the local hospital. Stormy is with him and will let us know how he is doing. Our prayers are with him and the family.
We have had to say good-by to Rose L and Percy this week as they had to return up North but perhaps they will return someday to share their experiences with us.************** Percy had called and informed us that Rose and he had made it to their separate destinations and things went well. Thanks for letting Gail know......********
Peg B. is back with us trying to sort out things at her house and will be out and around for a short while. Good to see you back again..
I know we will be saying so long to Karl and Vincie along with Robin and Beth this week. May they both have a safe journey to wherever they are going. ***watch out for the ash****
Our Village has slowed way down this month but the Social Club has assured us that they are working and planning on activities for those of us who will be here this summer. Watch your Swan for some news ( hint...Mother's Day is coming up) and they will let us know as soon as everything is final. Thanks guys.
Short visits make long friends....

More sad news

In today's paper there is a report on another one of our
residents who have gone to meet their spouse.
Marjo Norsworthy was a resident in the A section for
many years before moving.
Her husband William had passed away several years ago
and she no longer could stay here with us.
Our sympathies go out to all her family as she was such
a lovely lady.
Visitation will be from noon to 2pm., April 24 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds
Funeral Home, Vero Beach with a life celebration service beginning at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River Co.

Sad News Today

We have just had word that our dear friend of Lakewood Village has been lifted to the highest to be with his sweetheart,Betty.
Dick Mohn has been ill for quite sometime and has many visitors with him up to today.
His daughter informed us that there will be a memorial sometime in the future and until then our prayers are with his family.
We remember Dick for his outstanding work around our Village and his continuous smiles.
Dick was always lending a helping hand to anyone who would ask for it.
Good by Dick........and thanks.

Apology

I find the need to apologize for not following through on posting Doug Bradfords eulogy as I said I would do.

The eulogy is a wonderful timeline of Doug's life events and I much enjoyed reading it - the problem I found is - I tried scanning the pages that Martha M. brought to me and I cannot seem to get them readable.  It is several pages long.

So, if anyone would like a copy - I will take it to the office on Monday - I am sure you can get a copy there - or come by my home and I will provide a copy for you.

Thank you Martha M. for providing it to us - and again - I am sorry that I am unable to post it here as I wished to do.

Diane

Thought for the week-end

Many questions have come up but this answers one!
O! what fun we can have as we age.
Now go out and have some fun this
week-end...
Doing what's right today means
no regrets
tomorrow.

Bunco Potluck

Bunco group held their yummy potluck this week with
some of the most wonderful snack foods.
There was even time to play 20 games of Bunco where everyone did a lot laughing and joking round. These 18 people did their best to get the most out of those little square dice and the winners were:
Most Bunco's (3) went to Patti
Most games (16) went to Beth and Hazel
The hot seat was won by Gloria and she feels she simply earned it.
This was the last bunco for so many who will be heading back up north real soon so we wanted to send them off with the feeling that Lakewood Village cares and invited them all to return as soon as they can.
A special thank you to my 2 girls who did all the marking for me this week. They did such a great job maybe they would like to do it again next week. My humble thanks to all who came and will continue through out the summer as along as there is an interest in having a get together with some of the most important people in our community.

Easter Egg Hunt.

This Easter breakfast turned out to be so much fun.
The children had a wonderful start with the pancakes, eggs, meat and juice.
The Kitchen cooks flipped and flopped the pancakes as early as 7:30 to make sure everyone would get enough to eat and start their day off.
The happy smiles on the little ones was such a joy to see in our Village. The eggs that they collected from our common area were theirs to keep. Lot of laughs and giggles were heard all around.
The committee wanted to make sure everyone enjoyed the morning as the next crew was coming in for the evening gathering.
What a busy day for everyone.
Our love went out to those who came and to those who couldn't make it.
Hope you have a pleasant day and be thankful for all the blessing that you have. Got to love those little ones.......

Happy Easter Everybody

Sharron, Rick, John, and lew raise their glass to us
Your Hostess, Nancy C.

This was a special holiday here in our Village.Add Image
Everyone who came to our going away party was
smartly please with the thoughtful committee and
walked(waltzed) away feeling wonderful.
The food was in abundance and the chicken fixed
to perfection.
The music was fun as was the drawing for prizes.
The Meads were the lucky one's for the evening.
Everyone was saying to some of our friends who will
be leaving, " Happy Trails, until we meet again."
Thanks to everyone for a great time.
We all salute the Lakewood Village Social Club.
Our Prayers are with those who were unable to be here with us.

Wm. Doug Bradford

This is what information that has been given to me.
I have a home Michigan address to send a card
I do believe we will be hearing more from the Bradford
family in the future.

I now have Peg's home address:
528 East Francis St.
Hastings, MI. 49058

Those who wish to send condolences may do so
at this address.

Week-end reminder

Tomorrow is our community Easter Egg hunt and breakfast.
The morning begins at 9:00 a.m. in our beautiful
clubhouse where the cooks will be flipping pancakes.
This is such a treat for all our residents as all we have to do
is show up and enjoy the hard work of your Social Club.
This is a lot of work, so jump in and see what you
can do to help make it a wonderful time for all ,as they will love you.
After we have eaten, the kids get to have some fun so keep
your eyes open as it promises to make you smile.
But wait!!!!!!
We will clean up the clubhouse with the help of anyone
who will stick around as we are also having our adult going
away party for the park at 6:00 p.m.
This is a pot-luck affair so make up that special dish to
bring over for everyone to enjoy. This also is FREE with the support
of your generous Social Club. We hope that everyone will
come and support all these hard working residents that are
doing this just for YOU.
We want to wish those who will be heading back up
north to where they will be spending their summer,a safe trip.
Our thoughts are with you and await for your return this fall
The best time to make friends is before you need them.
