Heading up North

Received this Easter greeting from Cindy J
who has already headed north.
Beautiful snow cover graced her city in Michigan
while we enjoyed a typical sunny Florida holiday.

This brings to my attention that very shortly
many of our seasonal residents will be
heading back northward. This leaves a sad void in our
park as activities we all enjoy slow down or stop
until thier return and the pace
of the Village picks up again.

We hope all of you have a safe,
healthy, happy trip and look forward
to seeing you when you can return to
our sunny Village.
!REMEMBER!
If any of you have information,
funny stories, even just a silly story to share
with your fellow Villagers,
from whichever home,
you can e-mail Diane or Barb and we will try
to put it in your blog...

Tuesday

This morning Coffee was hosted by Grace Gallagher. She hosts coffee quite often and always tries to have "something different". This morning she had turnovers, raisen bread, and muffins to go along with the normal donuts.

Thanks Grace, for being our Hostess!
As we were leaving, there were still a few hearty souls gathering for a game of Bocci. Even tho the "official" Bocci season is over - there are many to still gather to play after Coffee on Tuesday. Come join them - they will play as long as there are enough for teams~~~
Don't forget - tonight is Bingo!! Come out and support our Social Club. The doors open at 5 PM so you can get all set up and get your order in for intermission. 3 sets are called, Early Bird, Early Set, and Late Set. I don't know who your callers will be - but come on out!! You can still be home by 9~~

Easter Egg hunt

The skies were glooomy but nothing could
dampen the excitement of this
group of little Villagers on their
way to see the Easter Bunny with
buckets in hand!!
The Committee did an outstanding job of organizing the Easter Egg Hunt and
the whole Community wishes to thank them.
GREAT JOB!...Norm and Teresa

Easter Egg hunt

This morning the Easter Bunny arrived at the
Village's annual Easter Egg hunt.
Everyone scrambled around the
huge pink and white bunny to have t
heir picture taken.

The Eggs were all over the community grounds
with special attachments to
bring back to the clubhouse.
These eggs then were given back for a beautiful gift.

The coloring contest,
with each age group,
was judged and again prizes awarded
for the most creative picture.

We all give the committee a big thank you for setting up this wonderful morning and our children enjoyed it .

Special Prize at the Tea

Handmade by Miss Peggi!

Miss Peggi donated her special tea cake to
a lucky lady and it was very well received.
She worked very hard on this event and we want her
to know that we all appreciated it.

Ladies Luncheon Tea

The 3rd annual Lakewood Village Ladies Luncheon Tea

was held on St. Patrick's day in our

own beautiful clubhouse.

Some 40 ladies arrived wearing their finest

flowing dresses and decorated hats.

Even some wore their colorful gloves

that complimented the vision.

Delores and her committee did a wonderful

arrangement with the typical tea lunch.

The tables were colorfully decorated with

linens and priceless tea sets.

Each guest had their very own original setting

and beautiful hostess.

A very special touch.

Music provided by Gene S. drifted through out the luncheon.

Thank you.
Of course entertainment by our own

Nettie and Tom had everyone in stitches.

Way to go.

Prizes and gifts were distributed to lucky ladies and

each had their pictures taken by

Gail who has given the committee their copy.

You will be notified when they are ready.

Everyone prepared for some beautiful pictures.

Thanks again to the social club for providing this

wonderful and thoughtful memory.

Neighbors helping Neighbors

Nick and Judy DeCherico have lived in Lakewood Village for 34 years. They will be celebrating 56 years of marriage on April 3. Nick was 91 on January 22nd and Judy will be 90 years old on July 2nd.

Elmer, Bo, and Robin replace the deck at Nick and Judy's. The old one had gotten to rotten to be safe - so the 3 "boys" got together and replaced it.

Under the glittering stars in our beautiful clubhouse,
Delorse Henry, our Grand Marshal,
complimented the outgoing Board

fresh and inventive ideas coming to benefit all of us.
The meeting ended with a large decorated cake,

Tuesday Bingo

Nancy Conners is the Captian of the Volunteer Team that worked Bingo this last Tuesday. There was a little over 1/2 of a room full of players that were busy daubing thier cards in thier quest for the "prize"!

The Social Club sponsors our Tuesday Bingo. It is the only consistant income that the Social Club has. The very small percentage that the Club keeps helps to pay for the Park-Wide Parties and to offset the costs of the other events that we have. There is also a Galley which offers several different items for break. Coffee and Ice Water is complimentary. If you don't want to work - come play!! Support your Social Club!!

Jerolyn (our Past President) set up weekly teams of Volunteers to work the Bingo - It really takes quite a few people each week. If you happen to have a few hours - or even - for some of the duties - an hour or so - to help out - give Jerolyn a call and she will put you in touch with one of the Team Captains.

This last Tuesday Norm Emard, Bob Ozment, and Diane Beatty were the callers. Jerolyn and Mickey did the Galley, I have no idea who the volunteers were that did the set up and selling of the books, daubers, 50/50's, and get orders for 1/2 time. Carey and Barb Emard assisted Nancy with the clean up - as well as Mike Palazo, who comes in and empties the garbage while he is waiting for Rita to finish up :)

Bingo usually runs from September thru May - so give a call to volunteer or mark Tuesday Bingo on your calendar to come play - Doors open at 5 PM!!

See ya there!!!

Shuffleboard

This Wednesday morning there was Yoga at the Clubhouse at 9 am and Shuffleboard over in the A Section at 10. Here is a picture taken by our Lakewood Photographer - Barb - of the shuffleboard group that is headed by Ray and Martha.
As with Bunco - I don't know what any scores are - or even if they keep score ~~
Bridge is at the Clubhouse this afternoon at 1:30 - Maybe our Village Reporter and Photographer - Barb - will be able to gather more info on the "doins" around the Village! and we will continue on our journey of fun in the sun!!
You can leave comments, notices, or just get well wishes in the comment section. Feel free - but remember - anything considered unkind will be deleted.

Nettie Nelson

At Bunco on Monday night - the Bunco team honored Nettie with cake and a big round of Happy Birthday. Her Birthday is on Friday and she will be 93 years young. You see Nettie everywhere - riding her bike - walking - handing out beads at Mardi Gras, dancing, playing Bocci - she is just one of the most active people I know. And she is sweet too!! She is the Mother of Barb, Grandmother of Connie - and they are all residents here. A Lakewood Family Tree!! Nettie was very suprised and of course, so very happy that so many thought of her ~

The scores are posted up at the Clubhouse - so I have no clue who did what for winners and losers - and booby :-)

Bunco is played every Monday night at 7 pm. All residents are welcome - and we all have a great time!!!

Mardi Gras

Thanks to our Social Club and the hard work of the outgoing President and First Man and their committees - we had a wonderful party on Saturday! The turnout was amazing for our Annual Park-Wide Party. This year it had a Mardi Gras Theme and many were in great costumes!! We were met outside the door by Nettie and given beads and a huge welcome - which no one can do like she can. . . The Crossings Community Church brought out their "events" trailer - so the kids had 3 big jumping structures provided by them.
We also paid tribute to Marthmae. She has been a long-time resident with a very full "resume" of things she has accomplished here at the Village. She has been very busy during her time here. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her in her Red-Hat Grand Dame regalia - to many other were in front of her. She has a 90th birthday coming up soon and was also given a box of cards from residents. She left a very happy lady!!
After the tribute to Marthamae, we ate hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, all sorts and types of salads, and desserts provided by residents and the Social Club. If anyone left hungry - it was definately thier own fault!
After the family portion of the celebration was over - the music started and the adult party began. Since I haven't been feeling well - we left soon after but I'm sure that all had a wonderful time!!
