Memorial Day Picnic

This was a beautifully warm sunny morning in our Village and the great "fishers" were out at our lake. We were very surprised at the group that got up early to go out and drown a few worms. Everyone had a wonderful time and there were many fish caught and released. They were all treated with chocolate cookies while baiting those hooks. Prizes were awarded to these special people later in the clubhouse.

A few Carts were decorated with our countries colors and drove around the Village in support of our deceased service people. Then back to the lot for the raising of our countries flag. We had a nice group of veterans here to help remind us of what we were here for.

A moment of thoughts were given and Tamra led us to the beautifully decorated Buffet table. We had a wonderful assortment of salads along with Bo and Glen's grill cooking.

Everyone had a full plate and then it was time to honor our Veterans right here in our own Village. A special cake was brought in by Pat and the candles were bright and everyone got a piece of their red, white and blue cake.

Our thanks to the Social Club for the time that they put into the day's activities. We appreciate all that they do..

Adding up your blessing will multiply your joy

It is only a month away before our 4th of July picnic will be here so everyone keep this day open as there will be many surprises for everyone.

Happy Birthday

I ran into a former Lakewood Village resident yesterday. What a delight she is. Doris S. and her husband had lived in our Village before the hurricanes came and they moved to town. Bill and Doris try to come to our activities often and join us for parties. Their large family surprised her this last week-end with a REAL surprise birthday party. (37 came to her party)

With almost all the family coming in, they had to hide each family in a different hotel and from the picture of all of them, they really worked hard to surprise her.

Our congratulations to Doris for her birthday and wonderful family.

She is so thankful for all they had done as she never, never even had an inkling.

Adding up your blessings will multiply your joy. Happy Birthday Doris......

Memorial Day

In just one week we will be celebrating Memorial Day here in our Village.

The real reason is to be giving thanks to those who gave up their lives so that we can live ours, for that we will give thanks on Monday.

++++++

Your Lakewood Village Social Club is planning a celebration for all the residents in the Village. Each home had a paper delivered with all the information on it. If you did not receive one. please notify the office as they can fill you in all that is going to happen, until then plan on attending next Monday for all the festivities.

Up-date

ADULTS get your swim suits ready as this Saturday is the big ADULT pool party. These brave Village people came last year and had a good enough time to ask for one again this year. Connie has been planning on some really fun things to do so we hope all adults will come over at 6:00 and join in the excitement. Be sure to bring your own drinks and snacks as there will be plenty for everyone to share. See you all there.....

*******************

There was a wonderful turnout for the second annual pool party here in our Lakewood Village.

Over 50+ people came and enjoyed the pool, food, games and most of all the friendly adults of our Village. Everyone came on their best behavior with such pleasant ideas. The games were played with so much laughter and we have to thank Connie and her crew for all the work that was done. It was a great way to spend a warm night in our Village.

Happy Anniversary

We all want to wish a happy Anniversary to a wonderful couple. You know them through our office. This Tuesday David and Tamra will be married 8 years. Perhaps you can slip in at the office and wish her a wonderful day tomorrow...Best of luck and hope you have many more great memories.

And we have a lift-off

May 16, 2011

This morning at 8:56 a.m. NASA had a final lift-off of the Space shuttle "Endeavour". This is the last mission for this shuttle from Florida. This is a 16 day mission with the commander Mark Kelly directing the voyage. Perhaps you were outside watching this small light heading up through the clouds and disappearing. This is history in the making and we hope everyone will remember this day.

Comment!!!!

This morning I had this comment and was asked if it could be put on the blog. I feel it is worth the time for all to read:

Thank you all who jumped in to help keep our park a thing of beauty.....

We have several items waiting for your enjoyment.. The Memorial day picnic is on Monday May 30th here in our Village. Your social club is planning a fun filled day for all residents to come over and enjoy. There will be lots of entertainment for everyone and of course this is a pot-luck buffet, so think about one of your favorite dishes to bring to share. I will be updating this information again soon.

There has been some interest in having the "Snack Shack" to be opened again this summer but it can't be done without volunteers. Bo and Pat have put out the word that if they can get enough ADULTS to help in the kitchen, that they would like to open this up again. Please if you can donate a Saturday or Sunday this summer for only 3 hours , please call Pat at A18 or you can stop by and talk to her. They would like to open on June 18th this summer. We will need 3 or more teams of two ADULTS to work this. Check your calenders to see if you could help them out....Let them know as soon as possible....

FYI

Thought we would do a little catch up!!!

We live in this wonderful state of Florida but do you know what we are all about? Our State Flag has been to your right ever since the Blog has been viewed.

Our state animal is the Florida Panther, our state beverage is Orange juice. Next is our state bird, the mockingbird and the state butterfly is the Zebra longwing. The state day is April 2nd and the state flower is orange blossom ( surprise). The Florida state gem is the moonstone and the state marine animal is the manatee. State play is named 'Sword and Cross" and the State shell is the saltwater Conch. Our state song is "Swanee River" and the State tree is the Sabal Palm. This is just a small reminder of what we are. Perhaps you know something else about us that I missed. Go ahead and let us know.

Mother's Day

Let's take a moment and try to honor all our Mom's for the up coming day this Sunday.

****Your mother is always with you.

She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home...She's the map you follow with every step that you take.

She's your first love and your first heart break.. and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time. Not space. Not even death...will ever separate you from your mother. You carry her inside of you.

*********When you're a child she walks before you, to set an example. When you're a teenage she walks behind you to be there should you need her. When you're an adult she walks beside you so that as two friends you can enjoy life together.****

I hope you all have had a wonderful experience with your mother that you can relate to her on this Sunday and be thankful to have known your mother as I have known mine.

++++++++"Happy Mother's day to all you mothers out there"++++++++++

Monday night Bunco

And so goes another season of Lakewood Village's most fun games.

Bunco held it's last game until this fall when there is enough people to come over and join in the fun. It was a great season and I'm sure those who came enjoyed themselves. We hope you keep us in mind for this fall when we will once again throw those dice.

The winners for this last night are:

PATTI threw 3 buncos to capture the most money. Good playing Patti.

HAZEL came in with 15 winning games to take 1st place. Even though she came a hair late she still out played everyone else. Come back again.

Our Hot seat for the last time goes to BO who did his best to take home the rest of the money. We all cheered everyone on to a wonderful evening.

Treats were provided by Barb and our treat lady, Rita. Hope to see you all throughout the summer as there are other activities being planned. Check out the flyer's and the clubhouse.

Thank you all for following us and have a safe summer.
