Sad News today

October 25, 2009
Thanks to Rick D. I was informed of the passing of a dear and old friend. The Village has known Jim LeBeau for many years and enjoyed having him around.
We all watched him take care of his sweet wife Ellie for a few years and admired his dedication even after her passing.
I have no idea how old Jim was but (84) he was one of our young residents so this was a surprise to us as well as to his family.
No arrangements as of this moment have been made but his daughter is accepting cards from those who wish to express their condolences.

Oregon Farming

Another example of what Keith is doing this summer.
Looks like he has been busy working with the fruits of their Labor.  Diane and Keith have really had a lot going this summer and have enjoyed their families. We wish them a Happy harvest and look forward to when they will return to our Village.

Picnic days are coming

Your picnic days are coming!
****
Beginning Monday, November 2nd, there will again be a regular barbecue/cookout in our Village.
This will run until April, and is always weather-dependent.
We gather in the A-section park about 3:30.
Rick D. (A36) prepares the grill and you bring andcook whatever you want. It is a good occasion to socialize and meet your neighbors once again.
This is open to all adult L.V. residents and their guests. Regular attendees are asked to bring a bag of charcoal once per season.
Thank you Rick for all the help you do with this activity.
***
This has always been a wonderful success, so mark your calendars for Mondays, starting Nov. 2nd.
~~~~
* Just a note!
This picnic area is open year round for residents and their guests to use. All you need to do is leave the area in the best of shape.
This is a perk of LV.
Enjoy
Pumpkin days ahead
Keep growing those pumpkins Diane.
They just seem to get bigger all the time and just think of all the goodies that come from pumpkins.
***
Our weather has turned warm again so the A.C. was back on last night. Don't think we will have fall temps for our Halloween parties this next coming week-end.
Keep watching for those witches and goblins....
More to come soon.
Pumpkin days ahead
Just a picture of a few pumpkins being grown.
In case you are wondering just what is so
different about these, Diane grew these in her
garden. They tipped the scales in over 340 lbs.
She really has a knack for growing those
vegetables.
I will be posting other surprises from Diane
and her garden this next week.
Thanks Diane.
Special Coffee hour.
We wish to thank Nancy C and Barb E. for
hosting our coffee hour this morning.
We all appreciate the time you took
to have these coffee and sweets for us to enjoy.
This morning a special coffee hour was presented
with the VNA.
Anyone wishing to get their Flu shot had this
opportunity to do so.
Lila and Stu waited for their turn and I
don't think Stu cared one way or another.
We wish to thank The VNA for all their
help and coming to our Village.
Don't forget tonight is our Bingo in our
Halloween clubhouse.
Get your dabbers and wander over
at 5:00 to get the best seat in the place.
A wonderful turn-out for Bunco this week.
Most games, which means they worked awfully
hard were:Tom and Dot B.
Welcome back
Yesterday several van's pulled into our Village.
***
We are happy to welcome back
Rick and Sharron D and our Joan.
Coming in right behind them, Bo & Pat A.
They all drove through some bad weather up north
and were happy to see their winter
home.
***
We welcome them back and we are sure ,even
with the cool front this morning, that they will
enjoy our southern weather.
More will be arriving soon and hope to hear
from them and their uneventful trip into
Week-end coming up
A little catch up for the week-end..
***
It sure has been hot with record breaking temperatures.
Received the power bills this week and hopefully we will
be getting some relief soon.
***
Take a peek in your clubhouse this week as
Jessie was in there decorating it for Halloween.
She sure is a busy goblin. It looks scary...
**
Monday night is still the great Bunco game
at 7:00 p.m. in our clean clubhouse. A good
way to get out for an hour or so.
***
Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. is our usual
coffee hour but this week there will be the nurses
on hand to offer flu shots. Please bring necessary papers
for them to fill out.
Enjoy having coffee with your neighbors.
***
Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. doors open for
our weekly games of Bingo.
They need players as well as volunteers to run
this exciting game. You can get in touch with any
Social Club member as to how you could help them.
They would appreciate it.
***
Thursdays the Michigan Rummy group starts their
game at 1:00 in our clean Clubhouse.
Pete D. #302 was looking for some guys to
join in playing a game of Cribbage, so if any of
you would like to play at 1:00 you could give
him a call or stop by. Sounds interesting.
***
Our thought this week is:
Good Luck Rose and John
Greet the dawn with enthusiasm and you
may expect satisfaction at sunset.
Out of surgery
Makk is out of surgery, in the PICU and although they had a hard
time getting his pain under control he is finally sleeping.
They will keep him resting until possibly today.
We don't know what the results of this surgery has
produced yet but will let everyone know as soon
as it becomes available.
Our prayers are with the Beatty families...
Thank you for all of your prayers... Makk is doing a bit better this afternoon. He will probably be in the PICU for several more days as they try to get his digestive system working. Your prayers have been much appreciated. - Diane
Mid- week news
Have heard from several of our absent residents.
****
Hazel P. is still up north and reported the temperature will
be in the 30's by this week-end. She needs to get her plans to
come to the Village real soon.
Dorothy is doing pretty good at the present time. Enjoying her
family as they do live close by.
****
Finally heard from Robin & Beth about their plans to
return to paradise. It is later this month as we all await
for their arrival.
****
Those prayers have been answered for those under the weather...
Bob O is trying very hard to get himself up and around as
the family is with him most of the time. Miracles really do happen.
Good show Bob.
***
Stu T is now home after a bout in the hospital.
I know Lila will do her best to keep him safe.
****
Another good friend who has to take it easy and that is
the hardest part of not feeling well for Barb E.
This gusty lady will be roaming around our Village until
she has a release from her Doctors.. I just know the
Cracker Barrel is watching this closely...
*****
Keep following the Dr's. orders and return to all
our activities.
Special
I wish to express a little gratitude to some of our
unrecognized angels who live in our Village.
****
These people are far from being old but have as
many aches and pains as a lot of us . They are out
helping people who aren't able to clean up the yards, and
unable to get out side in this very warm weather.
This is just a partial list as I wandered around our
Village this week-end.
***
A huge thank you to:
Peggy D for all her volunteering with our games
Jessie C. for so much of the yard work around her section.
Tom and Dot B for their helping out their neighbors in their
section.
Each of these people love their Village and have been a big
help to their friends and neighbors.
***
I know there are more but this is what I saw this week-end.
Perhaps you have seen some others and would like to honor
them. Please let them know how much you appreciate all
the work that is being done to make our Village a place
of beauty.
Another Hot and humid week-end is for casted.
The pool has been cleaned and work should be finished
for your enjoyment. It really looks nice.
******
The fall colors are blooming up north as we are
still experiencing really warm summer weather.
***
The creatures have been out and around and some
are breath taking beautiful. Take the time and admire what
is around you.
**
Our Village has been cleaned up and looks exceptionally
pretty for our northern residents. I know the office would
like to thank you for taking the time to make your personal
property attractive as they are working on the common areas.
***
Activities are coming up and the Village Social Club has
announced several for your enjoyment. Check your Swan
for more information. We wish you all to have a safe and
happy week-end.
Keith & Diane's grandson
Makkiah at Mingus Park in Coos Bay, Oregon
Things are set up for S'te son Makkiah's surgery coming up.
This is set for October 14 and these are the procedures:
G-tube (feeding tube), fundo, pyloroplasty, rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, larynoguscopy, endoscopy, sinus biopsy and possible lung biopsy. There will be 4 specialists assisting the pediatric gastrology surgeon with the various procedures and tests. The Doctors have warned that this is a very high-risk surgery due to his respiratory, allergen, and gastric problems.
This sure a lot to have done on such a little guy as he is just 8 years old.
I know we will all be watching to see how well he comes through this fresh ordeal and our prayers go to him and his family.
