2010 Census information

The census is really important to our district for government programs, assistance, and representation, to just name a few,  so simply, PLEASE beware of what is happening.

• If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a Census Bureau canvas bag and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge and check them carefully before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home.

• Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census. While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, it will not ask for Social Security, bank account or credit card numbers nor will employees solicit donations.

• Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail or in person at home. However, they will not contact you by e-mail, so be on the look out for e-mail scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in an e-mail that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau.

You can sit outside on your porch for the interview if you choose. You do not have to invite them into your home.
Our area local office is:
Port St Lucie
SW Port Saint Lucie Boulevard
Port Saint Lucie, FL 34953
Phone: 772-361-6019

If a Census Worker is rude, demanding, or asks inappropriate questions, call the office with thier name.

And here in the Village - you can call the office to check on whether the office knows there are Census workers on the property.  They should not be here without checking in at the office.
If you want further info visit: http://www.census.gov/ and follow links to answer your questions.

***My thanks to John G. for bringing this to our attention.***
