update

Just an update on a few things.
****
Tomorrow your rent and water bill is due in the office
so make sure you have it there on time.
***
Michigan rummy will resume in the
clubhouse at 1:00 for anyone who wishes
to play a fun game for pennies.
**
On a heavier note...
Virginia R. notified me that her dog
had passed away and wouldn't be
coming back with them this year.
**
Yesterday most of you saw the commotion in
the East section and by now know that
Eleanor Cheeks had passed away in her sleep.
I hope to have more information when it becomes
available.
***
I believe that you should always leave loved
ones with loving words. It may be the
last time you see them.

Oregon has been a dream for her with all the garden she can plant and harvest. It has been a busy summer for her and Keith. You can follow her and her harvest on her Sea-Ami blog.

VISITORS to our Village

This morning we had visitors feasting in our common area.
There were 5 Woodstorks but two escaped before I got there.
They were so busy eating their breakfast that they hardly knew I was there.
These are wild birds so there is a distance to be maintained.
These creatures are frequent visitors to our Village and they appear to be friendly.
Don't be mislead, as I have said, they are wild and beautiful to look at.
If you see more simply enjoy and if possible, capture them on your camera.
*****
Have a great week-end.
***
Your thought for the week.
**
Those who bring sunshine to others
cannot keep it from themselves
*****
***Thanks to June G. *****
I misquoted the identity of the birds in question.
And, yes I knew that they were Sandhill Cranes but got lazy and called them
woodstorks.
I am grateful to June and all of you who look at this blog and actually read it.
I welcome any comment you wish to give me....

September 11, 2001

September 11 Attacks, coordinated terrorist strike on the United States in 2001 that killed about 3,000 people and shook the nation to its core.
I don't think I need to go into details as we all have lived that horrible day 8 years ago.
We really have to stop and think what had happened then and what is happening to this day.
It is clear that September 11 would alter the course of U.S. history.
More people were killed on U.S. soil on September 11 than on any day since the
American Civil war.
Take a moment to remember....

Labor Day to share

The first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1892 in New York City.
Peter J. McGuire, general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, is said
to be the founder of Labor Day. However others point to Matthew McGuire, a machinist
from Patterson, New Jersey. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor
Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic in 1882 and 1883.
President Grover Cleveland introduced a bill to congress making Labor Day a national
holiday in 1884. It was unanimously passed and signed into law in an attempt to quell
harsh feelings after the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and
US Marshals during the 1894 Pullman Strike.
Today Labor Day is symbolic of the end of summer, and often celebrated with festivals,
parades and rest. It also signals the beginning of the NCAA college football season.
However, for many it remains a national tribute to the American worker who made this
nation what it is today.
Hope you have enjoyed a bit of HISTORY.
Enjoy your week-end...

Hi ya'll

Well we finally made it back to Paradise.
All of our relatives were doing just great up North.
It was pretty chilly there and even got down to
49 one morning.
Needless to say I was ready to pack up and
come home right then and there.

****
Haven't heard to much since I been back but,
Robin and Beth were in Canada to visit Robin's
sister. They were really excited about their visit.
It won't be too long before they come home to us.

***
We have some new people in our Village, even though
they are former residents:
Don & Carol Taylor have taken up residence and
will be moving around among us very soon.
Good to have you back...

***
Just scant news as of last night.
Bob O is still now doing very well and we are
still sending our prayers his way.

***
There are others that perhaps we will hear of
very soon that could use a lift or two with our
prayers.

~~~~~~~
While we were gone we kept track of the weather.
Once again were spared of awful August storms. We
are now keeping our fingers crossed during month of
Sept.
Everyone enjoy the wonderful, warm weather of
Florida as it is chilly up north.
