Up coming in October

I was just given an update on the information coming up in October.  Your Lakewood Social Club has been busy getting things lined up for us and have added a few activities for November.
One that we will need to watch for is "COFFEE" hour that is always on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 am. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee and a fresh donut.  Bo and Pat have kept this going all summer and if anyone would like to help, just let them know.  It is a nice way to see some of your friends and neighbors.  Thanks guys.
There are more added activities for the month, so keep watching.
This information is planned to be placed in your October newsletter so be sure to watch for it.
Best of luck to Larry and Donna..

Note from Diane

Had a wonderful note from Diane this morning.  As you know that they are back up in Oregon where they have been remodeling their home.  They also have a large, fruitful garden where Diane has been growing her own veggies.  Her father is up there also and helps her gather the berries and other garden assortments for her to can or preserve for the winter months.
Preserving these goodies have been a passion for her and believe me they are absolutely delicious.
Keith and her have another foster baby that is now 6 weeks old and they are thoroughly enjoying this little one.
Keith is going to possibly have surgery on his foot and ankle and we will wait to see what his appointment details.  Our thoughts are with him to have a successful arrangement.
They possibly will be spending their winter there as it will be hard for Keith to travel so we here in the Village wish them to have a safe and happy time there and to see their family often.
The best of luck to you all.

Tonight in your beautiful clubhouse over 60 people came to enjoy an evening with their friends and neighbors.  Everyone brought their favorite dish to the buffet table and there were some amazing new dishes presented.  The dessert table was almost as full as the buffet table.  Plenty for seconds and so many enjoyed the chance to taste something different.
The dessert wheel had a wonderful selection for everyone to try to win a delicious cake or any of the donated desserts.
We all had a chance to win with their 50/50 drawing and tonight the big winner was Doug M.  This was a first time for him and he almost always comes to all our activities.  Way to go Doug.
We are sorry if you missed the first Pot-Luck night of the season and we hope that they will have another real soon.
Your new Social Club president Jodi made us all welcome as her committees did a outstanding job with the evening.  See you all again real soon.

Autumn Pot-Luck

You should have your flyers from your mail-box by now with the information on the Pot-luck to be held in your beautiful clubhouse. This is a POT-LUCK dinner so that means we all bring our favorite dish to be shared on the buffet table. Please bring your cake, pie or any type of dessert for the wheel by 5:30 to the clubhouse...This is happening Saturday the 24th at 6:00 p.m. We thank the Social Club for giving us a week to prepare for this. There is no charge to attend, so save this night for you and your neighbors. They have added several items to their agenda that we will want to work with. They are having a 50/50 raffle along with the Dessert Wheel. We will donate something for the wheel so we can have fun with taking a chance on winning a scrumptious dessert to take home.

I noticed that they are accepting donations of non-perishable food items for our Thanksgiving food drive. So let's look for something to bring with us to be distributed here in our own Village. If you have any questions you can get in touch with the President of the Social Club, Jodi Blood and she will help direct you .

A reminder will be on Wed...

You can refresh yourself and others by a cheerful disposition. Check it out...............

Sad News...

Today I have received word from the Emard family that Emilda ( Pat) Emard- Fern had passed away . Many may remember her as Normand's sister that lived across the street from Barb and Norm in the Village. Pat had been here for many years and joined in our activities that included the ceramic classes. She was very handy in her paintings and needle points. On 9/16 at 9:30 a.m. in Ste. Rose de Lima Church, the family will hold a service for Pat. The address is 600 Grattan St. Chicopee, Ma. 01020. You may send a card for her there.
Her husband had gone on to prepare for her many years ago so she will be happy to see him once again. Our prayers go out to her Son and many family members.
The Village sends their condolences to all of her family up north and here in our own park...

Sept. 11, 2001

PATRIOT DAY!!!!!!!!
Tie those yellow ribbons for those who are not with us today.

Suicide aircraft attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon left untold numbers injured or dead and threw the cities into chaos on September 11, 2001. It began at the height of a morning rush hour in the nation's largest city. A plane, reportedly a hijacked American Airlines jet slammed into one tower of the 110-story World Trade Center. As smoke and flames poured out of the building and rescue workers battled to save victims, a second plane hit the second tower. The two towers soon collapsed. Huge clouds of smoke hung over Manhattan. The nearby Wall Street financial markets were shut down. A short time later, another plane struck the pentagon, touching off a massive explosion and fire, and tearing a hole in one side of the historic building. Most of us remember what we were doing at this morning hour and it was something that none of us will ever forget.Today they are rebuilding the Trade Center in memory of those who lost their lives. Let us not forget.....
Pat A. just handed me a reminder for Sunday.

Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of the 2,993 killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. On this day, the President directs that the American Flag be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M. Eastern Daylight time, the time of the first plane crash on September 11, 2001.In observance of Patriot Day, please also remember our veterans, who have put their lives on the line for our freedom and security. My thanks to Pat for remembering......

Beginning of Fall

Hope everyone had a pleasant LaborDay week-end. The weather co-operated with those picnics and family get together times. It was good to see someone using our own picnic area on Monday afternoon. Thanks Tamra. We will now start to see some planning for the coming months when people will be arriving for the winter. We all look forward to when our Northern friends come and visit with us. They bring with them a fresh breath of sunshine when they are here. Let's all buckle down and prepare for their arrivals.
We also continue to watch that weather channel as the storm season is still here. Everyone has been ready for sometime now so we really are protected for the rainy season.
Take care of each other and still get out when you can as the grass and flowers are growing and things are starting to look good again after a dry summer.
We leave you with a piece of wisdom from a great person (Not me.):
Work like you don't need the money, Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching. Sing like nobody's listening. Love like it's HEAVEN ON EARTH !

Labor Day week-end.

This week-end there is time to reflect on what is happening with us.

Even on our worst day, we can make them great. WE determine how we react to things that irritate or hurt us. We choose to react either positively or negatively. Today, let's choose to have a good day(week-end) and not give anyone the power over us.

WE can really surprise them.

Good Luck and simply enjoy your time in our beautiful Village.
