Time Change

It is that time of the season once again.
Come Sunday at 2:00 AM we have to move
our clocks back one hour. This can be done
before you crawl into bed Saturday night.
Hope you remember or you might be a little
early for church. Good Luck.

Extra, Extra

Does anyone happen to have a clue to who
this beautiful witch is????
She had a ball entertaining the children with
her energy at the party.
We certainly admire her for her talents.
When you see her, wave and tell her how beautiful
she looked...

Kids Halloween party

Some of the goblins of our Village..
Under the threat of rain, this beautiful rainbow appeared
as the Kids Halloween party ended.
There was a wonderful turnout with the clubhouse full
of laughter and giggles.
Your social club cooked hot dogs and served all who
showed up.
Each costume received a bag of delicious treats along with
parents. Everyone left feeling as though they were
special.
They all left to continue with their trick or treating.
This was a wonderful group and we are all
very proud of them and our Social Club here
at Lakewood Village.

BRIDGE

Omitted from the November Swan, Nov. 5th
is the starting of Bridge in our clubhouse.
Leween F has informed all the they will
be begin playing at 1:45 this Wednesday.

All went well

You all remember
Doug and Marg D.
Yesterday Marg had surgery done for the
second time and
her hip was more difficult to replace than the
last time. Her surgeon was pleased that
this time it went well.
It will take time for her to heal and therefore
will delay their return to our Village.
~~
We certainly want to express our best wishes
for a speedy recovery and look forward to
when she and Doug return to us.

Passing

Sorry to report the passing of one of our
long standing residents
~~~
Glen (Bud) Hunker (81 years)
Bud had been moved to Hospice about a week or so and last Friday was lifted to a place where he is no longer in pain.
You could always see him walking his little dog,
Nikki, and he always had something
or another to chat about!
~~
There are no services planned
but we will remember him.
~~
There are several sisters that will be around
so you can stop and talk to them. A29.
~~~
Other news:
~~
There will not be a RO meeting in October
our next scheduled one is Nov. 13.
~~~
I noticed that there are returning residents
from up all over that are checking into the office.
We all should look them up and welcome them back.
Our Village will start to buzz once again.
~~~

Great news.
~~

Lew and June had wonderful news from their son,

It's Here

Oh what a beautiful morning!!!!~~~The sun is out and the windows are open.
It is going to be a
wonderful day.

~~Arrived home this week-end from Canada with our Joan to spend some time with us all.It was a beautiful trip and the landscape, out of this world. The trees were in their outstanding foliage. Colors that we don't see here very often and the

temperatures strictly northern. We all embraced Florida with giggles.

I know there is news to report while I was gone and I will gather this during the day so keep watching.

Recycle Program

aJust for your information.
~~
Effective October 1, 2008
~~~
Indian River County is pleased to announce an
expanded curbside recycling program.
~~
Recycling saves the county landfill...and that saves the
taxpayers' money. Moreover, it saves our planet.
~~
Remember, curbside recycling Service is available to all
Village residents and it is included in the cost of living
here.
~~
Our collection day is WEDNESDAY. If you need bins
you can call 772-226-3400 as these are free for the asking.
~~
This is not mandatory but it really makes good sense.
~~
I hope this information will benefit all those concerned and
we all thank you for paying attention.
~~
This was brought to my attention by June G. and I
approve this message....
~~~
~~~~~~~~~~
Connie and June have put on a comment that all should
see.
Just click on the comments at the end of this
and it should come up. Thanks...
Coffee Hour News
Coffee hour was held again this morning with
Delores H. as our hostess. We thank her for taking
the time to prepare our treats
We all enjoyed having our Blood pressures taken and
once a month the Nurse will be back at our
coffee hour.
~~~
A bit of news was brought to my attention that I
thought I would pass on to you.
~~~
Several people are under the weather that we are
aware of.
Bob O. is heading into surgery in the morning and
we will be waiting for the results. He has been having
many problems that we hope the Doctors will be able
to correct.
~~~
John C. is still in the hospital and Jessie is with him.
We should know more on how he is doing soon. So keep
watching.
~~
Kathy R. had a small accident yesterday and should be
home by now. I assume her arm is now in a cast.
Hope she is doing better.
~~~
Rita P. will be having her hand operated on Thurs as
she has been having problems for some time. We
know she will get some relief and have her back
playing our card games again soon.
~~~
Peg B. has had surgery this summer and will be
delayed on their return. If anyone would like to
send her a card this is her address:
Peg Bradford
528 E. Francis St.
Hastings, Michigan
49058
~~
Your Social Club President has put in a request for
anyone who can help in the kitchen on Tuesday nights
for Bingo. This is necessary for Bingo to continue.
Please check your schedule and see if you can either work
in the kitchen or HELP call for their games. This can be on
a once a month schedule and would mean so much to the Village.
Call or stop by Phyllis B. to let her know what you can do...
~~~
Peg D. is in charge of having a Pot Luck dinner coming up
the 16th of November in our clubhouse. The details will be coming
in the near future. Check with Peg on what you can do to help.
~~~
Our usual activities will be returning probably around the first
of November so keep watching for any new announcements.
We are anxious to get back in the swing of things.

Bud Hunker

Had word today that a long time resident, Bud Hunker, at
A 29 has been admitted to the Vero Hospice facility.
If anyone would care to call him his number is
978-5602.
He is allowed visitors to his room # 2 and is alert to
his surroundings. If anyone would like to take Bud out
for a walk or for a short outing, he would also enjoy
this.
~~
My thanks to Pat P. for all her help in working with
Bud and keeping us all informed. We know he is
in capable hands now and we wish well.

High Honors

Our own Nancy D
~~
This was sent to me and I thought it was interesting
enough to pass it along.
~
Nancy sings in the choir at her church and was pleased
when her great-granddaughter Megan was selected
from a large group of Middle School students and a large group
of High School boys.
This is the four county chorus competition.
They all sang six songs.
The amazing thing is that Megan , who is blind, and another blind girl had all
their music memorized and never missed a beat.
This was a preview of what they were to sing on Monday for
the state.
The sad thing is that if they win local, she and another blind girl won't
beable to go because they can't read music. This is changing for
the next year.
~~~
We know that Nancy and her family are very proud of this
beautiful little girl and what she has accomplished thru her dark life.
Megan has preformed for us many times when she was
quite young and it pleased all of us.
~~~
Our hearts go out to this beautiful young lady and
wish her only the best on her road in life.
~~
Thank you Nancy for sharing this with us.

Canada

Thanks for the update...
Rick and Sharon

We will be waiting for you
