End of August
Well folks we were lucky once again. Miss Irene went on by us and took on everyone else. The family and friends up North have been experiencing a pretty rough week-end. I haven't heard of any really bad news except that some are without and will be without power for several days. The news reports keep coming in on our friends up North and they will be having a lot of flooding for many days to come. Our prayers are with them and their families. The weather here has been unbelievably hot, hot. You should not be outside for any length of time and then take care. I know our pool is very inviting but take precautions and use the sunscreen.
This week everyone will be trying to get back to normal as our children have been back to school this last week. None of our activities have picked up except our coffee hour and our WI bowling. If you have something happening, just let us know. Next week-end is Labor Day so we hope you have made your plans to be with your family and friends. Will check back with ya'll this week.
Have a great week and stay safe.

Update news
A new response from Rick.. I have just received news on our Rick D's condition. Rick has had surgery and it went well but complications set in and he had to remain in the hospital for several more days. Sharron and some of the family were with him through out his scary time. He is waiting for more results to know what further treatments are required.
In any event for all his golfing buddies, whenever he is able to play again, he will have earned the right to play from the forward tees at all time, with a stroke a hole. And he just might ask for more if he can get away with it.
We all are thinking of this wonderfully pleasant and kind man that has come to our Village for many years. Our prayers are with you so you may continue on your journey to recovery.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, Enough trials to make you strong. Enough sorrow to keep you human, Enough hope to make you happy.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, Enough trials to make you strong. Enough sorrow to keep you human, Enough hope to make you happy.

Ice Cream Social
At our summer Ice Cream Social this year ,we were entertained with Ice cream and cake for a small donation. Everyone had a great time sampling the cakes that were brought in for the judges. A nice surprise was that this was Thomas's 29th birthday today and his mother surprised him with a beautiful decorated cake.
There was enough for everyone to enjoy and they all sang the birthday song for him. It is fun when you are surprised...Happy Birthday Thomas from all your friends in Lakewood Village. The winner of the best cake at the social was Carole. She has to be the best cook around. Her carrot cake won the blue ribbon for the evening. She also has won the best Apple pie during the 4th of July Bake-Off. Way to go Miss Carole. We are proud to have you and keep those yummy desserts coming in.

Sad News today from N.H.
This is a copy from our local newspaper of one of our residents from Lakewood Village, Elizabeth (Betty) Dutille.
Chester (Chet) and Betty have been members of our community for a good number of years and have acquired many wonderful friends and memories. We have always enjoyed the company of this wonderful Lady and hope that Chet will return to join us soon.
Perhaps you can write in her guest book by http://www.rickerfuneralhome.com/ I know the family would like to hear from you. Our thoughts are with Pete and Peggy, and Glenn.

Finally at rest
Yesterday Diane Beatty and her loving family held a final balloon release at Myrtle Crest, Oregon. Jeremy Bright turned up missing 25 years ago and had not been seen or heard from since. Keith and Diane had lived in our community for many years and just recently returned to Oregon.
Yesterday the whole community, in Oregon and around the country, gathered together to say a final farewell to a" bright" young man who didn't get a chance to fulfill his life. Diane and her family will now have the chance to bring about acceptance that they will only see him in the next lifetime.
All of us in Lakewood Village send our heartfelt prayers and memories of life to come.
Good luck to the family of Jeremy Bright..
Believe in miracles....

Rainy week-end
Well the rain is here and we sorta welcome it. Saturday night swim party was a off and on swim so it didn't do so well. The pool was beautiful and when the lightening came it was all off.
Sunday afternoon this little cloud burst right over us until evening and getting dark. It was a good time to stay indoors. Line-up for the week is still coffee on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. so come over and visit. Wednesday night is still WI bowling at 6:30 p.m.
Friday night is dance program. Check your newsletter for time.....Saturday night is the ice cream 50 cent social evening at 6:00 p.m. Take the time and see what all is going on.....
We need some clouds in our lives to make a beautiful sunset...

Hot, Hot, Hot
It's so hot and dry in Florida...
....Hot water comes from both taps...
....You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
....The temperature drops below 95 F (35) and you feel a little chilly.
....You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 am.
Well maybe not this bad but it sure is warm here that we really look for some rain.
This week-end we were spared the mess of a heavy forced wind and rain. We will be watching the weather reports and hope ya'll are keeping KOOL...

August has arrived
We have been experiencing a usual hot summer this year. Everything has turned brown until a brief shower comes in. We have been watching the weather reports as the hurricane season is upon us. By now everyone should have their supplies available and ready in case some extreme weather should come our way. Those who were here when we experienced the two hurricanes know that you will take whatever the newscaster tells us as something to beware of and take cover. In the mean time prepare yourselves for a little fun that is going on in August right here in our Village.
Saturday the 13th is Connie's second pool party this season and all adults are invited. Sorry the children will not be invited in as they already had their wonderful, successful party last month. I do believe Connie will have a few more fun games for all to join in or to just watch and laugh. Mark your calendar for Saturday the 13th and get your suits ready. We will all be anxious to join in the fun as we will be bringing our own drinks and snacks. See you there. Everybody ready for some Ice Cream ????? On August 20th at 6 pm in our cool clubhouse your social club will be hosting a Ice Cream social for only 50 cents. and yes....Eleanor they will have some just for you..... Donated homemade cakes will be welcome as we just might get a slice....They will also have a special bake-off for those who love to bake a cake as the judges will determine the yummiest of them all. Mark you calendars for this special evening.
Each Tuesday all summer there has been our COFFEE hour in our clubhouse at 9:00 a.m. and we invite anyone to come and enjoy a donut and coffee as this is only by donations.
Each Wednesday night is the WII bowling at 6:30 pm for those who want to try their skills in playing this commuter game on TV,s. We invite adults to come over at our Clubhouse each week.
Coming up is an important Saturday in September::: We are all going to donate unwanted but saleable items to the social club so they can raise enough to purchase new stoves for our kitchen. We would like to make our kitchen as workable as possible for all our activities. If you have any items to donate, you can get in touch with the office or a social club officer and they will direct you with your donations. Remember this is your clubhouse that we are trying to keep as splendid as possible..
The Social Club is putting out the word that they want to have a Halloween party in October but this requires the help of everyone, so be thinking of what you can do to help make it the fun adult party that we have always had....
Giving is sharing, sharing is caring, caring is loving and loving is living...Lakewood Village....
