VISITORS

We were surprised by some former Lakewood Village residents over the week-end.
Keith and Diane along with their granddaughter Brayana came for a few minutes on their way back to the Midwest. They will visit family members along the way before heading back to Oregon. Diane is the editor of your present blog and I do rely on her for answers to the ever many questions. We enjoyed having the time spent with them and hope they return so more of you can visit them.
We wish them a safe trip on the road....

More sad news

In this mornings paper another name came up that we need to mention to all our Lakewood Village residents.

Alice B had been a shinning musical light at our activities. She was always a joy to sit and chat with. She had a few rough years lately so she is now with others that had gone on before her.

Our prayers are with the families that she has left behind and we will miss her smiling face.

My thanks to June for keeping me on my toes this morning...

Count your age by friends, not years...Count your life by smiles, not tears.

From an old friend

Had a wonderful call this morning from one of every one's good friend, Dolores H. She is now in her own apartment but still unpacking from her trip back up north. So far the weather has been terribly hot and not the best time to go outside. Her son has been helping her get things together so she can go and play her fun card games. We sure do miss her for those activities.

This week she will be heading to a special birthday party of her great, great, great grandson's first birthday. This is one of the reasons she is happy to be with her family once more.

Our thoughts are with her and I'm sure we will hear from her again. Good luck to a very special lady..... ******** I now have her new address:

34251 Ridge Rd. #409 Willoughby, Ohio 44094 and yes she would love to hear from you....

An excellent life is made up of countless excellent moments......

Catch-up time

Nancy D. was spotted today scooting around the market. We had all been concerned about her health but she was reported to be looking quite good. We miss her in our Village as she was always ready to join in our activities. When I get another report on her I will let everyone know where she is staying. Keep smiling Nanc.....*************************************************
Getting a little rain each day with lots of sunshine. The lawns are starting to green up some and the lake is slowly rising. This is what we do each summer.
I haven't much to report this week so we will just sit back and enjoy the summer days. If you want something interesting put here, let me know and I will try to let everyone in on your activity......
The office has been in touch with someone in Alice L. family and she is now in a assisted living care facility. Her family is with her in Mass. and taking very good care of her. It has been several years that she left our Village but we still remember her and Bob very well.
Everybody has to be somebody to be anybody.

2011 July 4th Celebration

On Sunday morning the group gathered to decorate your center. The following worked on getting everything together: Bo, Pat, Peggi,Beth,Connie, Patti, Jim and Will.. The place transformed into a beautiful 4th of July centerpiece. Thanks everyone...

This morning the rain held off so everyone in Lakewood Village had a chance to enjoy the 4Th of July celebration. Those who came over to our Clubhouse to join in the fun games and all the activities that were there, were surprised and happy with the outcome. The flag was raised by Tom S and Lew G. and we all sang with David and Tamra L. We then returned to the clubhouse for the activities that were continuous through out the morning. Patti was your mistress of Ceremonies who we will add, did a fantastic job.....Many prizes were awarded along with the best of the Baked Pie and Chocolate Chip cookie Contest. Connie supervised this yummy test.....Carole T. won the prize for her Baked apple pie and Lew G. won the prize for his best mint chocolate chip cookie. These were auctioned off and the money was given to the L.V.Social Club for future activities. Our humble thanks to all 6 judges Bo, June, Will , Pete, Phyllis,Thomas , & the alternate Robin.,for their time and their choices. We had quite a few sponsors whom donated gifts that were drawn and given out to those who came. A short list of these sponsers are Lakewood Village R.O. and the office staff, Crackerbarrel, Applebees, Popeyes, Dunkin Donuts, Marco's Pizza,& McDonald's. Your committee also donated many of the prizes.Everyone brought salads and desserts for the buffet table along with their donation to the cake wheel. The children were all given a chip to be used at this and many won the cake of their choice. Our thanks went to Chad and Meshell for attending the wheel once again. Just love those kids..... The fishing contest resulted in everyone catching fish and prizes. Jim and Doug had a wonderful time helping them drown those worms.. Thanks guys. The winner of the Bean Jar went to Bo & Pat and the basketball contest winner , judged by Gail and Truman, went to Kevin S. The smaller children had their own craft table, supervised by Gabby and Gracie for their coloring and bead making. Nathan kept busy face painting and giving tattoos. Great job all of you. After everyone had eaten and all the prizes given out, Tom and Dot held the 50/50 drawing and what a surprise as it was our own Patti B. who most generously gave her share back to the Social Club for their future activities. . What a wonderful thing to do and we appreciate all that she does. This 4Th of July was chaired by the McCollams BUT...they could not do it without all the help and support of everyone in our community. A special thanks to the last minute clean up crew..... Pat & Bo, Jim & Doug, Connie and all her family, Patti & Glenn,Sean,&"Will "as he was still cleaning the floor when we left. This was just a small list and example of all our wonderful neighbors whom we live with each day.We are very fortunate to have all this freedom to do as we wish and we need to thank our wonderful R,O. board for their generous contribution to our community. Everyone appreciates all that you do for us. Give yourselves a great pat on the back for a job well done!!!!!!!!

After all my gratitude to my friends and family for such a wonderful turn out to our annual 4th of July success, I will leave you with a few words..

EACH DAY COMES BEARING GIFTS..IT'S UP TO YOU TO UNTIE THE RIBBONS... We all just did......thank you.....
