Good News
Good News came in!!!
~~~
Our very own Virginia R. as of 9/16/08 made her
her goal of 3,000 miles which is about like swimming
across the country.
For those of you who do not know, she started keeping
track of her miles back on June 1, 1995 and has been
swimming away since then.
We are so proud of her and when she returns to our
Village we will congratulate her in person.
This is just an example of what you can do when you
make up your mind to do the almost impossible.
~~~
Way to go Girl.....
~~~
On another note! Gene Skrzpczak let us know that he
is doing just great after some surgery this summer.
Only several more chemo treaments and hopefully all
will be well. We will keep him and Nancy in our prayers
and look forward to when they can return to our Village.
Beautiful Lakewood Village.
Arrived home this afternoon and boy did this Village look Beautiful.
```
Went to Iowa to get our son who is moving down here to be with
his family. We are really excited about this move. He will be moving
into A30 in about a week. If you happen to see him say Hello even
though so many of you already know him.
~~
We were so sorry to be gone when you had such terrible weather here
and we were constantly watching the weather. Looks like we were all
spared even worse weather. Our hearts go out to Barefoot Bay and those
who are trying to cope with this freak of nature.
~~
Another note we finally got back Nettie from her trip to Minnesota and she
assures us that she had a wonderful time. Always something new with her
and she will be happy to tell you all about it.
~~~
My sincere thanks to Connie and Gail for all the work they did with the news
and making sure things were taken care during our absence. They truly are
amazing.
It was great to have your editor on-line once again. Thanks Diane for keeping
Lake in A Section
Ice Cream Social
We would like to thank the Social Club for sponsoring this event. We appreciate all your hours of planning and implementing of the activities.
It was summed up well by my Granddaughter. She said "Boy Nanny, it's really nice that they have all these fun parties just for us."
From the Lakewood Office
Hi Diane,
Thank you so much. Please let everyone know that we have come out of this with no damage to any homes. We were without power on Tuesday from about 3:00 until about 6:30, but it was restored without incident.
There is much debris (pine needles, pine cones) in the roadways, but no trees down, and all roads are certainly passable. We are still getting some wind and rain (it's 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday), which are going to last until sometime late tonight/tomorrow morning, but nothing to worry about.
There was a huge amount of flooding in St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties, and Barefoot Bay was hit by a tornado which destroyed at least 50 homes, but Indian River County/Vero Beach, and especially Lakewood Village were spared the worst of it.
If anyone wants to call, they are encouraged to do so, if it makes them feel better to talk to someone who is here. Our office closed at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, but we are all back today and will be open from now on, no more closures I hope.
Again, thanks for doing this for us, it is a real big help to be able to get the word out. I'm going to send an e-mail to all who have left e-mail addresses also, but I bet the blog reaches more people.
The following is a small
~
Take a stroll down
~
Mind you that these are only
These were all close and personal friends of older residents here in the Village. Each one had a great and humorous gift of life that we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. Some were neighbors and most were dedicated Village people.
Take a good look at the photos and think back to when they were among us and making our Village lives so rich.
It was such a joy to have
known each and every one.
~
I know that there were many others but we will have to go there another time. The most recent ones are still fresh in our minds and hearts. We will always remember and feel their presence.
~
Hope you enjoyed this bit of Village History. What a wonderful heritage we have been given.
It is not what you gather
But what you scatter
that tells what kind
of life you have had.
