She loved to have fun...
as much as she was elegant.
I had sad news that Russel, the Village's maintenance man, also passed away very suddenly. As I have no information for him - I am sure the office can forward your condolences on to his family.
Barb was a great friend to me - and a wonderful mentor. I will miss her greatly.
With Barb's passing - this will probably be the last entry for this blog. I enjoyed setting it up and working on it with her. We had a lot of fun.
I will remember her with a smile on my face and a song in my heart - for she lived for life.

August
We have reached August and some of our summer has gone. It has been a pretty warm one but our pool is working and I have heard some good reports of the conditions. Please everyone obey the rules as we all want to enjoy it.

Lakewood Village
For those who never met me or are not long-time residents - I am a former resident of Lakewood Village. I started this blog when we lost our "Village News Channel" several years ago. Barb graciously took it over when we left Florida and has done an amazing job in keeping it up. I still "edit" or help out when there is a 'blog issue' so - I still have editorial license... So here goes...
This forum is completely volunteer driven - and at this point, Barb is the only one that ever volunteered. It is a venue for announcing birthdays, funerals, updates, important issues, Social Club events and activities, and anything else our VOLUNTEER decides to post on it. If you don't like what is being posted, don't read it. It is very, very simple.
For those who enjoy reading it - Friends, residents, our Northern neighbors, former residents, and all the rest of us that enjoy seeing what our old friends are up to and what life in the Village is doing -
THANK YOU BARB FOR YOUR CONTINUED TIME AND EFFORT FOR THE GOOD OF THE VILLAGE!!!
If and when Barb decides she has had enough, there most likely will be no more blog... so... from me... and I still read every single post and comment... THANK YOU BARB.
and to whomever decided to use this venue for a complaint box (and an anonymous one at that) - shame on you.
We've prided ourselves on the ability to only monitor comments and not have to screen them - but that can be changed so that no comments will be posted until someone has time to read and screen them beforehand. All positive and constructive comments are appreciated and encouraged. Anything that you would like to see posted needs to be given to Barb ~ and she will post what she deems appropriate ~ until she is tired of it and chooses to just shut it down or let it change hands (if there is anyone that even cares as much as she did and would even do it.).
This post may very well be deleted also - but I've had my say to whomever the ungrateful resident is.
Thank you for your time.

pot-luck dinner
If you missed Saturday night's pot-luck dinner in our clubhouse, you missed some great company and lots of different kinds of food dishes. Those who came had a great hour of dinning and visiting. They plan to do this again later in the summer. Our thanks to Bo,&; Pat and their committee for a great evening....
Hope you all enjoyed Father's day with your family.
Thanks can be returned but never borrowed.
I understand residents have been using our beautiful pool. It is there for all of us. Be sure you wear your badge. If you don't have one, contact the office for one as patrol or any share holder will ask you to leave if you don't have it with you. Let's play by the rules
Sorry to inform everyone but Coffee hour on Tuesday mornings is being discontinued until this fall. We want to thank Bo and Pat for all they have been doing and perhaps if you know of someone who was planning on going over tomorrow, let them know not until this fall......

June
The month of June is just spilling over with birthdays. If you have one you will be celebrating with some of Lakewood Village's finest.
Eleanor and Jim share the 3rd. Mary L. along with Ernie and Barb have the 20th.Have a good one Doris C.
I know that Al. H. has one somewhere in here....23th?
June came around quite quickly as will the storms so keep a watch on the weather....Have your plans in mind. Keep those yards clear of trash....
YES! There is still coffee hour on Tuesdays in our cool clubhouse. Sorry this was omitted from the monthly calendar but Bo and Pat have said as long as there is an interest they will make coffee and get the donuts. Let's show up and support them.....
I'm sure someone can sing..... |
