A good friend

Our Rita Palazzo
A good friend of Lakewood Village left us early this morning. She had been in ICU for almost 2 weeks and she had not left the area.  Mike and her family has been with her constantly and Mike has been good enough to let us know what was going on.  I will let everyone know more when I find out.  We are all very sad at the loss of one of the very finest and dearest friend....... Our prayers and condolences with the Palazzo family.
If anyone would like to write in her book may do so by going to
http://www.coxgiffordseawinds.com/ and let the family know you are thinking of her.

Turkey Dinner!!!

Thanksgiving day will be here Thursday but your Village held their special dinner Saturday night to a full clubhouse.
This was a sit-down meal that one person from each table served their own group.
The food was very good and we all had our choice of several different pies with the traditional whipped creme.
I'm sure we should mention the cooks and their helpers but I don't know all of them except Don,Carole and Dawn.  I'm sure that they must of had some help as this was a major venture to have fixed all this food in time for everyone to have a hot dinner together.
We thank the entire crew for their efforts in helping  us have a few minutes with our friends and neighbors.
****
Enjoy next week as the weather has been almost perfect here in our Village.  If you are traveling,,,,be safe and healthy.....

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Your club house was transformed into to a  large  Treasure Hunt. There were many vendors inside as well as outside in our parking area.  This all started at 7 in the morning to set up and was ready to go by 8.  I don't have a count of people or money for you at this moment.  Perhaps someone will let us know.  The kitchen was busy all morning and the food moved right along.  We will want to thank the donors for their soups.  Carole T, Connie S, Patti B, and Barb.  The kitchen crew was kept busy the whole time...
The cake wheel ended in a bake sale that went quite quickly.  Ever so yummy....Thank You....

Scores and update

Your club house has been busy this week with the upcoming events.
Everyone can come over Friday morning at 10:45 am for the Veterans Day flag raising event.  This is to honor all our veterans here and abroad.  The ceremony won't take long but it is very important to those who have served your country.  The Social Club will serve coffee and a lite snack so you can stick around for a few minutes.
*****************
Saturday morning at 8:00 am sharp the doors will open to the great  yard sale.  There will be other vendors but this is mainly to help the Social Club raise money for activities, so let's all try to stop over and help them out.  There will be food offered for sale, to those who wish to stick around.  They also will have their cakewheel going for a quarter ,so please bring your donated cakes or etc. early and then take a chance on taking home something delicious.
****************
The 50/50 will be sold throughout the morning and they plan on having 2 drawings so check this out as it could produce a great sum for some lucky person.
****************
This week we have golf scores reported in by Lew but due to the small attendance back, they moved through the game quickly.  Reported scores are:  Low Lady:  June G.----Low man:  Logan L.---Most pars: Lew G and Logan L. (each tied with 3).  There were no pin shots this week....
They have their schedule out for the season and this was printed in your newsletter. Check it out for dates.
Thanks Lew for keeping us informed.
**********
A special note from Kevin and Fran M:  They should arrive in Vero on the 23rd and want everyone to know the weekly ADULT picnic-in-the-park will commence starting on Monday Nov. 28 at 4:00 pm.
Any questions you can contact them when they arrive to our Village.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bunco scores came in this week with a good group of people who enjoyed this fun dice game.
Most bunco with 4 went to our own MICKEY.
First place with most games won out of 30  were Mickey and Glenn with 20....
The one who enjoyed their chair the most goes to Nancy C. this week.
Everyone who came got to meet some new people and we invited everyone to come back next week on Monday night at 7:00.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I noticed in the clubhouse that the food baskets were not filling up very quickly.  Perhaps you could check your pantry once more and see if you have anything extra that you could bring over so that the Social Club will have enough to distribute to several families in our Village.  We all thank you.....

Sad News from the Village

Sorry I had missed a piece of news from our Village as Karen Sands has lost her lovely sister, Kris to Breast Cancer on October 31, 2011.  Karen had taken Kris into her home until the pain became unbearable and she moved to the beautiful Hospice House for her final days.
We all want Karen to know we feel her pain and hope she and Kamie will continue to heal here in our beautiful Village.  Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family.

Friday November 11, 2011 Veteran's Day

This Friday we in Lakewood Village will be holding our annual Veteran's Day flag raising event. Veteran's Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls.  The restoration of observance of Veteran's Day to November 11, not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veteran's Day:  A celebration to honor America's (and Canada's) veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to sacrifice  for the common good.
~~~
A Veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America "for an amount of " up to and including my life!
~~~~~
We have many in our Village who have served for their country and we hope everyone will attend our ceremony on Friday at 11:00 am, to honor our own special Veterans...
~~~~
We respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our freedom and safety in these United States of America and Canada.
Up Date for the week.
I have had word that Gene S. had his surgery yesterday and Nancy said that everything went well.  Everyone in the Village sends their good wishes for a speedy recovery.  Thanks Nancy for letting us know and we will look forward to when y'all can come down again.
~~~
Monday night was the official trick or treat in our Village and there were so many great kids running around that everyone was pleased with their manners and costumes.  If you were out driving, I hope you were very careful as they were all over our roads.
~~~
Tuesday morning the coffee hour was presented in our clubhouse and Pat A. was our hostess.  We hope you will be able to attend next week for your coffee and donut....
~~~
Wednesday night was the bowling at 6:30 p.m. with a small group as bowlers were quite busy this week. They assemble again each Wednesday and you are invited...
~~
This week-end leaves everyone clear to get your items ready to donate to the BIG yard sale that is coming up NEXT Saturday morning ( Nov. 12th) at 8:00 am.  We hope you will be generous with your donations as this is the Social Club's fund raiser for their kitchen.  If you would like to help during the morning, with a table, kitchen or other area's, please let a social club officer know.  I know the kitchen will need some help with the sandwiches and soups.  Check it out....
~~~
Next Friday Nov.11, is Veterans day,(National) and we here in the Village will be honoring our veterans with a flag raising and a lite snack afterwards.  Please try to attend at 11:00 am...
