Fall Frolic!!!!

Decorated Clubhouse  Most of the little ones were outside jumping..

Despite the rain and gloomy weather the Fall Frolic Festival continued with a wonderful turnout of a full house.  Everyone was happy to get together with their neighbors and friends.  The children dominated the clubhouse as the little ones came in such adorable costumes and of course they were all rewarded prizes.  The Hope Community Church of Vero Beach had provided all the food and entertainment that proved to be complete success.  We wish to thank them for thinking of our children so that they could have a fun filled day....
The cakewheel produced many delicious desserts that were won and the proceeds went to the Social Club  for future ventures, along with the 50/50 drawings.
The entire Village Social Club Officers jumped in to make this a fun day for all and we congratulate them on a fine job.  If you see any of them, be sure to let them know what a great job they did..

Hospital surgery

We had word today from a current resident by mail.  Nancy let us know that Gene will be going into surgery on Monday for a Valve replacement and a triple by-pass.  This date has been changed to Wednesday.(as of Friday Oct.28)
Gene hasn't been feeling to chipper the last several visits to our Village so they are going to see if they can correct his problem and sometime in the future return to us.
We will miss them this year but we know that Gene would love to receive cards of encouragement so I will put his address on for you.
Gene Skrzypczak

Saginaw, Michigan  48603
All of us here in Lakewood Village are sending only good thoughts to this very nice couple and hope that Gene will have a successful surgery next week.  I'm sure Nancy will let us know how things turn out and I will try to let everyone know....Good Luck....

Update for the week....

Activities this week were preparing for this coming Saturday.  Our clubhouse will be making lots of noise as it is our special Fall Frolic.  This is for all our residents to come over at 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  We hope you already have your free tickets as these are for drawing of  prizes. Contact Jody or a club member.... You may come in costume,just to eat or just come to watch all the children in their frightfully scary outfits.  Your social club has prepared a wonderful time for everyone so make sure you check out your fliers and help celebrate with the Village.  The children will not be trick or treating until Halloween night (Monday) so we will be watching for them then.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our Bunco group was small this week but we all had such a wonderful time due to the fact that Patti had just became a grandma of twins and provided us all with a toast to the new additions to our family.  Everyone enjoyed playing a couple games of Bunco.
This coming Monday night (Halloween) we will not be hosting Bunco as the the children will be running all over our Village in their costumes and we MUST be aware of the little ones darting out into
 our roads.  Please watch out for them and perhaps turn on your porch lights to announce you have a treat for them.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Coffee hour continues with Pat and we want her to know we appreciate her part in keeping everyone  together for this 9:00 hour on Tuesdays.  Thank You.
~~~~~~~~~~
Wednesday night Bowling also continues and it is a quick way to spend and hour.  There is some fierce competition among some of the good bowlers and then some of us just go and try to get some pins down.  In plain English it so nice to get together as Carole T. has not been a bowler but she always sends the most wonderful sweet treats with Don for all of us to enjoy.  Thanks again each week Carole..
~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday is the 1st and of course rent is due...please watch your calendars so you can get your check over to the office in time.
~~~~~
Golf will be starting on Thursday (Nov.3) at Vista Plantation   and you can contact Lew G. about any questions.
~~~

There are many activities starting up and we will be seeing more of you around our Village very soon.  Please support whatever is being planned for you as this is your home and playground. If you wish to help out, just check in with Jody B. and she will direct you to the best place to get started.....

The trouble with the younger generation is that most of us aren't in it........

This week...

Since this is Breast cancer awareness month, Connie along with a co-worker, Maggie, talked Gabby in to walking in the 5k pink bra  walk/race.  The race started at the Sebastian hospital this past Saturday and ended on a light note.  Our congratulations to all who joined in as this was a good cause and everyone enjoyed doing this. I have had word from Hazel P and she is recovering from a spell in the hospital.  Her plans are forming to return to our Village after the first of the year.  Her daughter and niece will be flying down with her so she can spend a few months with us.  Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Cecelia G. came to spend coffee hour with us this morning and she is looking well.  Her health has required some medical help but she is still in good spirits. This is one fine woman whom we all enjoy visiting with.  Another first this fall....Rita P. returned to coffee hour as she has been under the weather since her daughter passed away this summer.  She is a very brave woman who we sure can't keep down very long.  Good to see these women along with Eleanor's daughter Maryanne at coffee hour this morning.  Hope to see more of you next week.    Good show Glenn.....Thanks Bo & Pat.
Bunco was held again last night at 7:00 in our clubhouse.  It started out slow and then players started showing up so that we were able to continue with our usual games...  The treats were brought in by Sandy & Tom along with Glenn and Patti.  Everyone enjoys the snacks each week. We all thank you for the sweets... The scores for the evening are....Most buncos with 4 goes to Glenn....Most games won went to Mickey with 20.  Some pretty good scores.  Nancy decided to have the most fun and we all appreciated her for the evening....Way to go Nancy....
~~~~~~~I noticed that people had been donating items for the food box along with donations of toys for the children's party.  Check your flyers and see what you can come up with.  All is welcome.
~~~~~~~  See you at bowling come Wednesday night at 6:30 in our clubhouse.

The glory of each morning is that it offers us a chance to begin again.

Recap of this week

This week started out with lots and lots of rain.  Our lakes never looked better with all water up to the banks.  Our Village was spared of "complete" flooding as other parks had serious rain overflows. We had some roads covered with the water but most subsided and we were on our way.
Our social activities started with Monday night and the Bunco group arrived but so many had forgotten that it was starting.  Those who showed up still got to play and there was a lot of laughs and catch up on some summer activities.  They will have Bunco every Monday night at 7 as long as  there is enough interest in this fun game.
Tuesday morning at 9 the coffee hour is still hanging in there and Thomas S. had hosted the coffee and donut morning.  This continues all through the year and we want to thank those who come and chit, chat the hour with each other.  Thanks to Bo and Pat.
Wednesday night at 6:30 this group of dedicated bowlers show up at the clubhouse for their weekly bowling games.  This was the first of the season and they encourage anyone who enjoys the game of WI, to come over and check it out.  Glenn & Pat are in charge of the teams.
The LV Social club held their meeting this week and flyers are being printed out for everyone.  They have many good ideas that we all want to join in and help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week I will have more information on the Lakewood Village Yard Sale.  This is a big event for our Village , so everyone keep looking for items to donate for this great day......Saturday November 12, 2011.  And how was your week?????
A thought to remember!!!! Grandma's cookies didn't need preservative's, they didn't last long enough...
Fall Frolic is a coalition between Lakewood Village and Hope Community Church of Vero Beach.  The church is sponsoring the food being served at the party so you must get a ticket from the office or from any member of the social club.  This is for a count to purchase the food.
Hope Community Church of Vero Beach is located at 9055 Americana Road, Vero Beach and they offer a free dinner every Wednesday for those in need.
There is a need of donations for the cake wheel,candy, fruit, drinks and volunteers for the party.  This is being planned for your entertainment so lets all jump in and help your new Social Club get a good start.. Your donations are what keeps this going with no $ charge.
Look at it Rain.......
This is "TARA" and the Doctor who delievered "TARA"
Miss Tara
 This summer we wished for some rain and now this fall it comes and it comes in buckets.  It has been raining all day with not a break to run in.  I know that there has been some kidding about getting out the canoes   to get around the Village.....
                                                                                                                                                                    I was just informed that we have a new baby in our Village.  Chris and Susie C. Friday at 4:00 gave birth to their first little 6lb. baby girl.  "Tara" made her entrance with a grand note and mom & dad are doing wonderful.  Susie will spend a few days in the hospital to catch up on all the sleep she has lost and to gain her strength for when she comes home next week.  Everyone is anxious to get a chance to see this little miracle and I'm sure they are  very proud of what they have produced.  The Village wishes to send them our very best congratulations and we are very happy for them.
Update!
I have had word on several of our residents that I would like to share with you.
Rick D. has been into treatments that has him optimist and hopeful to return to our Village this fall.  This is really good news as everyone looks forward to Rick and Sharron and their wonderful outlook on life.  Awaiting on word as to when things will happen.  Our thoughts are with you both.
~~~~~~~~~
Cecelia G. has informed me of her brother, Sarge' and his condition.  It has been  a tough time for her as she has been his caregiver and it seems that he will be going to a place where they will be able to give him excellent care.  Cecelia also had some surgery herself but is doing just fine.  This is one very strong emotional LADY that we all admire.  May all of our residents experience the joy of life that we can except.
~~~~~~
Sorry to hear this morning from Mike P. that Mike and Rita's daughter had passed away in Penn. over this past week.  She was 40 years old and had been ill for sometime.  This has been especially hard for Rita and we wish to extend our condolences . Our prayers are for the Palazzo family here in Florida.
Another resident,,,,Rick S. has been having some pretty tough times. As of this printing he is at home here. He also has some professional help to make him comfortable.  We will keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers.
~~~~~~~
Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift...

Happy news.

This week-end Patti, Connie, and Barb went on a 4day cruise to the Bahama's.  This was the first cruise for Connie and it was a very special time.  The girls enjoyed every minute as the  weather was perfect and ship was beautiful.  They had so many laughs and everyone was so complementry to them.  They encourage all to take the time and plan a future fun filled day aboard one of the beautiful ships here in Florida.................until the next time,  smooth sailing....
