Clubhouse decorations

This week-end a small dedicated group of Village people came to your clubhouse to decorate for the Holiday season.
*******
Each one had a special area to work out and things just seemed to fall into place. They all need to be recognized for the absolutely beautiful work and to take pride in each of their creations.
~~~~~~~~
The tree was a challenge as it was so big but Glen and Connie stayed with it and the decorations were fabulous because of all the bows being specially made by Deb C.
The old fashioned tree in the lobby turned out to be quite a piece of work also by Toots and the Mead's, Ray and Martha.
~~~~~~~~
Our two Pats worked with the garlands everywhere and offered very good advice on what to do with everything. Beth and Robin jumped right in and made things so much easier for everyone.
****
Jim took over the lights that we have around the ceiling and this gives us the feeling of lots of snowflakes as Connie had added these for a winter effect.
*****
The table decorations are simple but elegant and we invite you to come to coffee on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. so you can get a look at what has been done.
~~~~~
We hope you enjoy your lovely clubhouse and our thanks to Dolores for her job of cleaning up, Rod and Robin for working on the P.A. system, Pat and Bo for getting things set up, Deb for her creative bow designs, Ray and Martha for taking time out to set up the smaller tree, Toots and Beth for checking things and making our mornings so pleasant, and My family for being there when we needed them, couldn't do it with all of them!!!!!!!
*******
I hope when you see these people you will let them know how much you appreciate all the wonderful work they had done.
Tree Decorating.
Lakewood Village is asking for anyone who can come over to the clubhouse this Saturday, November 27th at 9:00 a.m. to help decorate the tree and clubhouse. We need the attention of a group of dedicated people in order to accomplish this. Please take the time and come over and offer your help and it won't take very long to have our Village Clubhouse looking the very best. This is very important to all of us as there are several activities being planned for the month of December and we want to present the very best to everyone.
Thank you to those who will come and help out. Pat A. is in charge of the morning so if you want you can let her know just what you can do to make it go easier...
This benefits our whole community and needs us all to work together.....
See you Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Bunco from Monday Night..
Bunco turned in some fabulous scores this week.
Connie came out on top with an amazing 4 bunco's for the evenings top honors in the 30 games played.
This is wonderful.
~~~~`
The most games won were fantastic with a total of 20 and this was shared by Connie and Bo. They both were unaware of the other's accomplishments and everyone was pleased.
******
Dolores worked so hard at trying to keep up with them that she finally let them have all those honors. Way to go Lady. Thanks for the treats.

Thanksgiving Week

We are entering into one of the busiest weeks of the year.
***************************************************
After enjoying our Village Thanksgiving dinner we are all now planning our family dinner for Thursday. This gives us the opportunities to get together and hash over all our past years when we weren't so fortunate to be together. Our family still has some that are not going to be with us as they have commitments up north or military obligations. We will take the time to give thanks for what we have and wish everyone in our Village community a very happy, healthy holiday thanksgiving this year.
The McCollams, and your editor, The Beattys.

Successful

Your special Thanksgiving dinner was a overwhelming success.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are a few of the people who came with their arms loaded with some of the most invent able delicious foods that you would ever want to try.
The entire clubhouse was of full chatter and laughter that hasn't been there for quite sometime and we will give credit where it is due and that is to our entire community for uniting together with the help of our co-operating Social Club. The R.O. was represented by 3 of the board members and we know they were pleased with these results.
*********
Prizes were awarded as was the 50/50 whom we all agreed on the winners...
*********
Everyone jumped in to make sure that we had a place to sit and the arrangements were so that each were able to get into the buffet lines quickly.
All those Turkeys that were prepared by your Social Club were superb to perfection along with the choice of dressings. The pans made it so inviting as all of it was served nice and hot.
This was a special crew who took over the kitchen with such precision and the clean-up done with complete co-operation of everyone. You will notice that John acknowledged his kitchen committee. There were so many other people that helped produce this event and wish to thank you as you know who you are. Everyone did a fantastic job of uniting our community when it really matters. My special thanks go to Bo & Pat as they are always there behind the scenes making sure that we are notified of these events and do so with out thinking twice about the time that is spent in our interests.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a wonderful Thanksgiving evening for our Village.....Thank you everyone.

Week-end

Another week-end coming up and we have a wonderful Saturday evening planned for your enjoyment.
Your Social Club has been busy working on the Thanksgiving dinner that they are holding in your clean and pleasantly decorated clubhouse. This affair begins at 6:00 this Saturday and you must have your ticket with you that you picked up from one of the Social Club officers. These are FREE so you should have yours already but if not get a hold of Pat A. or any officer to quickly get one.
**********
At 6:00 p.m. there will be an offering of thanks for all the food that is waiting for us as you have brought your favorite dish to the buffet table and all that mouthwatering turkey from your Social Club, putting out a pleasant aroma.
They are expecting a large group to attend so be sure to come and meet up with some of your old and new neighbors. We have already met with several of the new people at other functions and are looking forward to seeing them again.
*******
The 50/50 will be offered to those who want to take a chance on walking away with a few$$$$.
********
The Village has a lot to be thankful as we have so many good, hardworking residents who really want to make a difference in our way of living and therefore we thank you for being here.

BINGO IS HERE

Bingo is heating up tonight.
****
John had informed me this morning that people just haven't been coming over for the best Bingo game around and he wants everyone to know that he is offering a new evening of less games, more payout and the best of all FREE pizza tonight. Now how can you beat that??? The only way you can see, is to come over at 5:30 and see what is happening. The Social Club wants you to come in and see for yourselves what a great evening you can have right here in our beautiful Village.
I know that a lot of you have forgotten that we have Bingo each Tuesday night and we send a special invitation to all who are interested.
~~~~~~~~
Keep in touch with your friends, you never know when you'll need each other.
Thanksgiving dinner
This Saturday the 20th of November in our fall decorated Clubhouse Lakewood Village will be holding their annual Thanksgiving dinner for all our residents. This begins at 6:00 and social time to follow.
The Social Club is furnishing the turkeys and we are to bring our favorite holiday dish to share at our bountiful buffet table.
There is no charge but you will need a free ticket from any Social club member to enter. This is to insure that they have cooked enough turkey so we all will get some on our plates. If you are a shut-in, please notify an officer so that they can help you out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the time of year that we try to look back and think what we have to be thankful for. Some may feel that their lives are a mess but there is always hope in our Village. Each and everyone here will lend a helping hand should you find a need for one. We have always tried to help our neighbors in any way that we can.
Perhaps this dinner is the place for everyone to come and see what Lakewood Village is all about... We have plenty of room just for you...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On next Thursday November 25th, the whole country will be sitting down with their families to give thanks for the free world that we still live in. Take the time and relax...get out and soak up some of our beautiful Florida sunshine. To honor the day, our office will be closed Thursday and Friday so that they may spend the time with their families. We hope that they enjoy this time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be more notices posted coming as the season gets going into full swing but for the moment:
Don't forget to make time & take the opportunities to make memories everyday.

Bunco Scores

Bunco scores are in and we are sorry that some were ill and unable to attend. There were enough who showed up to enjoy a few games of throwing the dice. We want to thank those who worked hard at getting these high scores:
Most bunco's ended in a tie of 4 each.
Mickey and Sandy worked diligently for their scores.
Most games went to:
Mickey.
The one who got left behind was unmentionable.
*******
Hopefully next week we will see more who want to come out and have a good time.
Our thanks to those who come and support the Bunco Games each Monday night.

Veterans Day

The sun was shinning and the Village was alive this morning with the hum of good fellowship and smiles everywhere.
*********
Everyone saluted both countries with their national anthem -- United States and our neighbors in Canada. It is wonderful to be able to stand next to such distinguished veterans and thoughtful friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was warm out so some took leave and retired to the clubhouse where it was nice and cool and where the social club had prepared a most beautiful table of food for all to enjoy. John made sure we all had the beautiful cake that was decorated with both countries, flags and all.
~~~~~~
The wall of honor was unveiled and is to remain posted so that you can see who is still fighting for our freedom. If you have a relative or a close friend who is serving now please let someone know so they can be added to the beautiful tribute.
~~~~
Everyone who came and stood at attention was moved by the feeling you only get when something right is happening. John and Lew , Rick and Sharron along with several of their Canadian friends pinned on Poppy's of everyone who came. This is a honored tradition of our special friends.
Other were simply happy to be able to attend and let people know how much they appreciate all that the social club does for it's residents.
*******
The 50/50 was won by Thomas S. who had to look twice in belief. Good going guys.
****
Announcement made that there is the Social club's meeting tonight at 6:30 and invited everyone to attend and help plan the upcoming season's social calendar. Please come and see what they are going to do.
Bunco Scores
Hope you have enjoyed your week-end with the cooler weather.
*********************************
We had a wonderful group of Bunco players show up that included 5 new players. Everyone did a lot of laughing and joking around.
The coffee that Connie provided helped us keep our thirst going and the cookies and treats that Patti brought were just the thing to produce these winners.
*********************************
Most Bunco's ended in a tie and they split the prize.
Mickey O and Glen C with 2 each.
*********************************
Hard at work was Patti who kept things lively and her 13 games won first place out of 20 games.
***********************************************************
One of our new players had played so hard that she was awarded the prize of the lot of giggles and that was Marie H.
We sure hope that most of these players will return next week to have as much fun then as we had this evening.
Week-end
Your week-end is here and the Village doesn't have any planned activities.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The most important news is to be sure to turn your clock back at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday or before you go to bed Saturday night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a shock to the system to step outside this morning where the cold air was moving around. We have had a long hot hot summer that we will accept the blast of cold air for a day or two... at least the sun is shinning as usual.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The pool is still available to those who are brave enough to endure the chilling air along with the cooled down water. Enjoy whatever you can find in our Village. Of course the picnic area and shuffleboard is available along with the exercise room, full of machines for you to try out, they even have a television for you to watch while you are working out. The comfortable library is also there to find a good book to sit and read or take home to return at a later date.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I will leave you this Friday with a thought!
**********
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong. Enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
*****
Marcel came on strong with 18 winning games and celebrated.
****
Nancy moved everyone just by coming to our evening that we were so happy to have her with us once again. Thanks everyone for coming to our really fun night. See you all next week and hope those who were not feeling well will beable to join us.
****
Have fun this week as the weather is suppose to cool down some.
Extra pictures
A few more memories for those who couldn't attend Saturday night. Some of these were just to good to pass up. A great laugh for all who came to spend a couple hours at the adult Halloween party. Really good going guys......
