BUNCO IS COMING

That's right!!!!!!

Next Monday night at 7:00 p.m. in our spacious clubhouse the first Bunco session will begin. This means that we are ready to spread the news that we want everyone who enjoys the game of playing with a few dice and a chance of winning a few $'s will come on down.

The games were suspended this summer so that everyone could take a breather and now I hear that ya'll are ready to go once more.

This is an adult game so plan on spending a hour or so getting away from the house and chores and trading it for a few laughs and giggles.

We are extending this to all adults who wants to have a good time.
If you are unsure what this game is about ask just about any old timer.....

Update Race News

First of all I want to thank June and Lew G. for keeping us informed on son Greg's race car driving.

On Saturday Greg, driving car HP-15, came in fourth in his H-Production race in the SCCA National Run-Off at Road America at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Needless to say his parents are always relieved to see him have a safe ending to the season and are pleased with his high finish out of 27 cars in that class.

****

Lew himself could be seen on the same TV site waving the green flag and the checkered flag on an earlier race that had an amazing finish when Lew was the starter for the combined Formula A and Formula B Race on Saturday.

****

It sounds like they are enjoying their summer as they always do. We will be looking forward to them returning to our Village sometime this fall. May they have a safe journey.

Last week-end in Sept.

We have Maxine to open our eyes this morning.
This week has gone by so quickly and everything has been pretty smooth.

Coffee Hour(Tues @9 a.m.) with Pat & Bo hosting went well as we all look forward to the wonderful hour of chit and chatting. Thanks for allowing us to come together.
*****************************************

Bingo(Tue. @5: p.m.) has continued all summer and this is due to the Social Club working together. It has even brought out a few new comers. Good show guys. Jump in to help.
****************************************

Wednesday night(@7 p.m.) has those faithful bowlers showing up and challenging each other with their skills. It is really fun to watch the good bowlers and those who struggle......
****************************************

Peggi D has been to our pool quite often so we assume she has been working on her swim and exercise skills for those who wish to keep those beautiful bodies in shape.
I know she has something lined up for those LADYBUGS but I have yet to confirm anything. I'm sure she will let us know what is happening and when.
****************************************
A moment to welcome back home Nancy C. It has been a very difficult time for her but we want her to know we are all thinking of her.
****************************************

It seems that there is not a whole lot happening this week-end except to watch what the weather is trying to do. At least we do get a little rain each day to keep things fresh and clean. I believe that we are responsible for what we do, No matter how we feel. Enjoy your Village.

September Pot-luck

September's Pot-luck was a success despite all the other activities that were going on such as ball games and other celebrations.
Enjoying all the Mexican food.
John and Stormy's 40th Anniversary

The John Davis family celebrating
their Anniversary with everyone.
The evening produced a long table of wonderful, delicious foods along with the Social Club's beautiful trays of Nachos. The guests all brought their favorite dishes that everyone had a taste of little Mexico. No one left hungry as John surprised Stormy with the most beautiful decorated cake that everyone got to enjoy. We all wished them to have many more happy moments.
Our monthly Pot-lucks have produced many happy moments and with your help the Social Club will be having them all winter long. It is a great way to get together for a short time and enjoy a different meal each month. Hope everyone had a special time and will come again in October. Perhaps you would like to help them as they enjoy having the extra hands. Just let any officer know and they will be very happy to show you the plans.

Yes she did that

Wednesday night WII bowling produced a big, big winner. Patti bowled a perfect game with 15(last game with 3) straight strikes to end the game with a 300
This was something that no one else has been able to do since starting these weekly games. She always seems to come up with very good games but not quite the perfect one until this week. We are all very proud of our Village bowler.
Can't wait for next week to see what she will do then.
Thanks Patti......

Bridge in Canada

This bridge game was played at Doug and Margaret's home in Canada. The whole group are Lakewood Village people who come down for a few winter months to be with us.
They continue their bridge games wherever they travel.
Everyone enjoyed the dinner, game and the wonderful companionship of these long time friends.
We thank once again our favorite Canadian friends, Rick and Sharron for allowing us to view the time that they spent with all our friends. Even though they aren't in the pictures they were there and had an enjoyable day with them all.
There is still time for them to have another gathering before heading south and we hope to hear from them again real soon.

Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week.

A new baby for the Village

Last night at 10:01 Little Robbie entered into the world of Robert and Nicole. His voice was heard and everyone was rejoicing. This little bundle weighed in at 7lbs,3oz.. 20 and1/2 " long. The family is so excited as this is the first grandchild for Carrie E.
Perhaps little Lillian (Leon and Debbie C. granddaughter) will have a new friend to play with as they have a birthday almost a year apart.
The Village is so happy for Nikki and Robbie as they begin their long and happy journey into a wonderful parenthood.

Meeting & Fun

First of the gatherings are Thursday night where there will be a Lakewood Village Social Club meeting. This starts at 7:00 p.m. in our clubhouse. Perhaps this is the time for everyone to get involved and help the social club with their planned activities. They have been doing a great job and can always use some new ideas in creating our fun times.
They have also added that if you need someone to help with your child at the meeting to let them know and they will provide help for you. See you all there to show your support.

**********************

Next on the schedule is this Sunday they have planned a
Football season opener. This will take place also in our clubhouse at 12:30 p.m. Games start at 1:00 p.m.
The grill will be fired up and the cook will be offering the burgers, dogs and sodas for a $1.00 each. Can't beat that.
Bring your own snacks and beverages. There will be a football pool for the adults along with a 50/50 raffle. If you would like to gather with your friends and neighbors try to come over to our beautiful clubhouse and cheer on your favorite team. The schedule is listed in your newsletter so check the times when your team plays.
Have some fun this week-end.

News from Canada

Lakewood Village residents in our winter months are enjoying their short time left in Canada for this year. Somebody must be a really good cook. Their plates are full of taste tempting foods.
Since Rick isn't in any we assume he took all of these fun pictures. Good show Rick.

Beautiful pictures from Rick D while visiting with John and Lew F. These were taken in Scotland, Ontario at John and Lew's home. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed getting together for a wonderful dinner as they don't get together very often.
Rick and Sharron D, Dolores H and Tom G. Rick's sister and husband along with the host and hostess spent the day telling lots of stories and are planning on meeting again back home here in Lakewood Village. My thanks go to Rick for thinking of us down here in the sunshine state. We are looking forward to seeing you all very soon.

Approaching 9/11/2010

9 years ago we all under went a real transformation in our country that we will forever remember in awe.
****
9/11/2001 for 102 minutes , New York City became a time in history that changed everything that we believed in. The world looked on in horror as terrorists flew hijacked passenger planes into New York City's mighty twin towers, destroying the iconic building and killing more than 2,700 people.
Therefore each September 11 everyone has their own memories of what and how it had changed their lives. Take a moment to remember those who were there.

Week-end report

Making use of the courts
Brand new Horseshoe court
John and Stormy
Potluck-in-Motion
This is how some of your neighbors spent their week-end here in our Village.
The Labor Day Picnic was enjoyed by those who came with their wonderful pot-luck dishes and their stories that everyone enjoyed. That great cook,  Larry, did a fantastic job of grilling those chickens and ribs. Even grilled a fantastic hot dog for those who really wanted a good dog. Everyone had plenty of food and our cool clubhouse was buzzing.
Young and old went outside to play the games that were set up for everyone to try. The Horseshoe court is now open and there will be more news on it coming up soon. John and his crew set up the day and it was a great time to spend with your friends and neighbors.
********
The rains came without ruining the picnic here but those who were camping were in for a soaking. The area really does need the rain to keep everything green. At least for now the storms are keeping away from our coastline. Perhaps we will have another storm free year in our Village.
********
For those who are not able to attend our functions, we are missing you. If you need assistance in getting to the clubhouse, please let someone know so arrangements can be made. We have missed many this summer. Our crew here has been quite busy trying to entertain us and we want to thank them for a community who comes together.
~~~~~~~~
It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
A prayer is needed
The Village has received word from our Cindy J. who will be having more surgery done this week. She will be admitted to the U of M Hospital for major surgery. They are removing the artificial left knee that was put in 1986 and replacing it with a new one.
We here in Lakewood Village are very concerned for one of our
own having to go through a very
painful operation that we are
offering our prayers for a successful
surgery and a safe return to her winter home.
******
Your getting older when every move you make becomes a joint effort.
Good Luck Cindy!!!!
