Tomorrow is a miracle!
If you don't think so....
look out your window when you wake up in the
morning and think about it.

We have activities planned for August so keep watching your newsletter and I will try to keep you alerted to what is coming up. In the mean time, try out our beautiful pool as it is waiting just for you.

More news

Maybe people are missing us as they are now getting in touch with us here in the Village.
Dolores called to inform me that Karl W. has had an accident where he has a broken thigh bone and a fractured hand. He will be in Rehab for some time and hopefully recovered before returning to Florida.
Her good news is one of her grandson's has announced his engagement to a wonderful girl but will finish schooling before planning a wedding.
Also she now has a 13Th Great-grandson and one new great-great grandchild. She has such a lovely family up north.
Come this September her and Tom will be traveling up to Canada where John and
Le ween will meet them take them around the territory. She is such a busy lady and will be returning sometime in September to our Village.
Thank you for all the news that had come your way...

News from friends

Word from several of our Village people has reached us.

Keith and Diane have reached their Northwest destination with only a few detours but still in one piece. It is really quite a long drive and I'm sure they will have many stories to tell us soon.

**********

Another had reached home:

Robin and Beth arrived back in Scotland and are watching to see what all is going on back here.

Don't know what all their plans for the summer are but I'm sure they will bounce around the country looking and taking in all the views that the country has to offer. We hope to hear from them again soon.

******

Another note!

Cindy J. is back in Michigan and already is planning on returning this winter and we sure will welcome her. I hope she will be experiencing some good health this visit. Will hear from her again soon I'm sure.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A new note from Rick and Sharron:
They are faithful readers and keep in touch with as many as they can.
Peggy B is doing well and is planning on returning this fall. They talk to John and Le ween quite often and they are doing quite well. Marilyn C has lunch with them a couple of visits and plan on several more. Marie C. had back surgery in late May and is doing wonderful except for the food poisoning she had recently. She is improving again now.
********
It is always a pleasure to hear from our wonderful Canadian Friends and look forward to hear more news from them...
Don't let the candle of love, hope and friendship die...Keep in touch with friends.
Catch-up time
In case you noticed there wasn't any news posted this week.
We took a couple days off and went up north a little ways to look at the gulf.
It actually looked pretty good as there was a large crew working the beaches in Mississippi.
We were told that they hadn't too much damage other than some tar balls that washed up.
Everyone was watching the weather and we decided to head home in case something developed. It was a nice time to get away and good to be back to our families and the Village. Hope everyone keeps cool and perhaps enjoy our beautiful pool.
Happy birthday to those celebrating their special days this week......
Pot-luck Dinner
You actually know these people !!!! Yes the Pot-luck dinner went very well last week. These are a few of those who remember the 50's and we all had a great laugh. Spend wisely Glen on your 50/50 winnings.
I don't think too many people remembered that this was the pot-
luck night but those who did Ithink will show up at our next one in August. The food was as usual outstanding as everyone brought their favorites and we ate very well.
There was music that some even danced and showed us how it was. Terrific group. We thank you for showing up and that wonderful crew who set up and cleaned up. We certainly have the best in our Village. ( and no!!! she is not pregnant..at least she wasn't tonight but 56 years ago she was)
************************
Doing what's right today means no regrets tomorrow.....
********************
On another note!!!
The Pool party was cancelled this week because of the wild weather but Connie tells us it will be later in the month and will let us all know when we can look forward to her wonderful ideas.....
Next Friday
Hope you enjoy the pot-luck this Saturday as we are all expecting a great time.
I just want to jump ahead and remind you of what is coming up this week...
Friday the 23rd is the Adult pool party.... This is designed for all adults in our park and they assured me it will be a fantastic time to remember. The time for this is 7 pm to 10 pm at our beautifully lit pool. Connie has extra lights for us to see by and some really funny games to play or watch. This is a time for the grown-ups to relax and simply enjoy some time with your neighbors and friends. I know there will be another flyer passed out sometime this week so look for it and mark your calendar for Friday the 23rd.
Pot-luck Dinner
Only a few more days until Saturday for your Pot-luck dinner in
our fun Clubhouse.
Lots of your dishes to share and friendships to renew.
They tell me that we can expect surprises but then we
always seem to have a few come unexpected.
6:00 p.m. this Saturday they are allowing us to come
dressed for the 50's and 60's if you can figure out what
that is.
Bring your appetite and sense of humor for a hour or so. See you all there.
I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the
right decision. I think we can all relate to this...
News from friends
Received a very nice note from one of our very dear friends
Rick and Sharron D.
The summer this year so far looks good. The flower gardens blooming
and the vegetables are looking up.
Going to visit relatives several miles away and will be
closer to John and Lew F. Hopefully to have lunch with them.
Rick and John have always been involved in our Veterans day celebrations
in our Village. We have enjoyed the pleasant company of this fine
and happy couple.
Another couple called this holiday from way up north.
***Gloria and Frank F. whom have been winter visitors in our Village for several
years and made so many wonderful friends.
Health issues have prevented them from enjoying their summer but hopefully
some of them will be taken care of real soon and they will be able to join us
again this winter.
This is a very appreciative couple who have express their love for our Village.
We wish them only the best and think of them often.
4 th of July success
These are your Lakewood Village Veterans for 2010
The flag was raised with full honors.
Those rain clouds held off so that your Village could have another wonderful 4th of July.We have the most impressive group of Veterans that anyone could hope to see all in one place. We are so very proud these brave Men and Women who live right here in our Village.
**************
The morning started out a little shaky with the clouds but it actually was a blessing with the shade. The fishing went quite well with a half a dozen or so dedicated fisherman drowning the worms in our common lake. Jim and Doug did their best to help them all keep those lines in the water. Carlos B. caught the most fish as he really is a true fisherman. Jerry was doing his best to keep up but he actually caught the biggest. We congratulate them all for the fine job they did.
***************
The bike parade was soooo much fun with the great assortment of bikes and carts decorated with the traditional colors of red, white, and blue.
That cute little Gage took the first place honors in bike while Doug and Gracie took the honors in the decorated cart. They had a ball...
Everyone who joined in these activities were awarded a prize.
Many thanks to our Judges, Don and Carole, T and Nathan N.
Thanks to Tom and Dot on the great job with 50/50. Sure missed that hat...Way to go Don(Carole)
Thanks to Jodi for the tattoos. Even the older one were running around showing them off.
How about that cook outside on the grill. Larry! thanks for keeping those dogs a cooking.
***************
The cakewheel was an instant success with all your donations to this project that the social club depends on to give us this fine party. Everyone had a chance to take home a dessert of their choice...Again my thanks to Chad and Meshell N for helping out this fun game of chance.. Oh, yes...Thanks Gabby for helping us all.
***************
Thanks to the decorating committee, including Pat, Bo, Jim and Nancy. This was done before anyone knew what was happening. It was such a pleasant clubhouse to come into. As one said" A very relaxin time"
****************
Clean-up was done by everyone who stayed around to help with things that had to be put back into place. I lost track of all of you but it was so much help. Thanks.
****************
And last but most important to all was the kitchen crew. What a fantastic job these guys did behind the scenes. They made sure your covered dish was placed on the dinner table and the the food was served with such a timely fashion.
I can't thank them enough.....Patti B, Nancy C.,Carole T., and Nicki. I think Don even got into with them. Such fun they were having. The kitchen was cleaned up so that we were proud to leave it.
*****************
If you missed this, we are sorry as it was given to you by your Lakewood Social Club. Perhaps the next one will be the one you can come to. We all enjoyed having such a fine group of appreciative people come to the functions that are offered to all our residents.
*****************
Sorry that Connie missed out as she helped plan this and did so much to make this a complete success. We know she will be back real soon....We missed you..
Never let the opportunity to say a kind word pass you by.
Last reminder
Well,,,we made it through the week!
Tried to give you an idea what you can expect Sunday would be like. We have always had a community get together that everyone enjoyed. Now it is up to you and your neighbors to come out on the 4th and experience this wonderful closeness that we have in our Village.
You have the information set up for you in your flyers, on posters, and in your blog. If you still need help in remembering what this is all about you can ask just about any resident in our beautiful Village.
The flag raising will start the morning (SUNDAY) at 10:30 after the fishing in the common area is all finished.
We hope you will take the time to come over and join your neighbors for a few hours of conversation , entertainment, and dedication to those who made this all happen. You won't be disappointed...
News from friends
Been away from the desk today and had incoming mail that I am very happy to report.
*************************
Surgery on Kryse M ( former manager) went well and it was 1 week ago yesterday. She is doing pretty good. The Doctor said that he will remove the cast next Tuesday, then begin more physical therapy.
She is able to turn on and read her e-mails but it is really hard to accomplish.
She wants to thank everyone for all the thoughts, prayers and cards. She feels her friends are the best. Well,,we all wish her a speedy recovery and think of her often.
*************************
Next from our Pete and Peg. In New Hamphire!
Wild trip north, driving is and was rough-have deer in the backyard- Their house cat "Pepper" has a new playmate--A young FOX--They chase each other, roll all over each other. So much fun to watch.
BIG day Friday...Champagne and all as this is their 50th wedding anniversary. We just know she will need to do extra H2O exercise at camp..Family gatherings have been centered around major meals.
Really miss them not being there for our 4th of July celebration but good thing she is not here because she feels she would win the fishing contest,,,,Fish like her.
Sorry you are not here either but we know you are enjoying your family...Happy 50th anniversary and we wish you many more with us.
********************************
Happiness is a voyage, not a destination. There is no better time to be happy than now.
Thursday update
Some of Lakewood Village Veterans
shown here for our Memorial service. We hope that they
will be here for our 4th of July service.
An impressive group of Village people.
We want to thank you...
Today we are going to honor our flag!
This flag....The symbol of the hopes of man, This cloth of dreams for
freedom, Justice and opportunity , it's stars are like beacons guiding
us through the shoals of adversity. It's red stripes like wounds of struggle.
The good in it cannot be had for nothing...Like any garden, it must be
tended...Like any loved one, it must be held, hold this flag high and keep
it's promise bright for in it lies the best hope for all of us.
*******
Be proud to be American as you know you are free.
*****
We in Lakewood Village will honor this on Sunday so come over
and join us for this dedication.
