More on the 4th

We have heard some of what we will be doing and we will go fishing at 7:00 a.m. at the common lake.
We also will witness our wonderful parade of bike, carts and whatever you wish to decorate. We will have awards for these activities. ALSO..
A chance to win a little money will be the 50/50 drawing that will be offered through out the morning.
Don't think that since you haven 't been able to come to other functions that you can't come to this, because we are extending a special invitation to ALL Lakewood residents to join in the fun.
Just check the schedule in your flyer, or in this blog, and see what you can do.
We are extending this invitation to those living in our Village, who have served in our armed forces to attend and help raise our red, white and blue flag. We are most grateful to you and your service to our country..

Update on the 4th of July picnic...

Here we go again!
The big day is getting closer and the weather seems to be co-operating with us.
We don't want anyone to miss this historic day in our Village, so let your neighbors in all the fun we will be having.
The cakewheel is a big part of the day and we still need dessert donations for this exciting game. Also don't forget to bring your covered dish to share with everyone. The committee is planning everyone to come and enjoy this fun day and are planning some surprises . Let's bring our sun hats and our quarters to join in the fun. Back again tomorrow to update you again.
Keep watch for all your news in your Village....

Countdown to the 4th

We are starting our countdown to the 4th of July.
In less than a week we will be celebrating our independence in
America.
Let's keep in mind that we are still fighting for this right and want
to show our support for those who are giving us this right.
While we are thinking of them we also want to have some fun because
of them, so lets get together for a picnic celebration right here in
our own community this Sunday.
Everyone take the time and come over for this activity that your Social
Club has planned. So many surprises.....
Will keep you informed as the week goes on so keep watching.

Father's Day Success

If you didn't show up for the special "Father's"
Day dinner at our beautiful clubhouse, you missed out on something really terrific.
Over 50 people and 8 shut-in's were served buffet style spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings.
Your hostesses were busy all day cooking and preparing and adding spices and everything nice to the fun meal.
To top the 50/50 ~~ Bo A. winning some special bucks.
Today was also special for Ernie H as it was his 93rd birthday and even brought his family with him. It was a real treat to see this fine gentleman still coming to our functions.
Nancy C. and Jodi F took the time out from all that cooking and preparing our meal to wish him a very Happy Birthday.
Jim surprised Barb with a special rose colored cake as it was also her birthday. As I've been saying the day was triple blessed with "Father's,"~ Ernie, and Barb's annual events.
We are taking the time out to thank all those who helped make the day outstanding along with our beautiful young ladies who did the serving of the dinner.
Even Grandma Connie jumped in as always. A beautiful hostess.
Our thanks to the Lakewood Village Social Club for thinking about honoring our fathers.
Never let the opportunity to say a kind word pass you by.
If it were not for hopes, the heart would break.

A special note!

I received a special note from an old dear friend of Lakewood Village and I thought I would share it with you...
What a beautiful place! It is a calm and peaceful place. One can find it above the white cotton like clouds. A place most would want to live...love to live. The sun peaks through the gently swaying trees. I can feel the warmth of the sun on my face. My face flush, I start to smile. I feel so relaxed and stress free. Butterflies are flying everywhere. I can spread my wings and fly. I am excited. My heart races as I fly over this garden..A beautiful mansion tops the hill and small villages beneath. I hear music, birds singing , and laughter. The flowers are colorful and the smell is indescribable. I hear the laughter of children. I feel love and joy. My heart races as I continue to watch the small children at play. I can feel the presence of loved ones. I can't see them but I can hear their voices. I am flying over a beautiful city. There are bodies of water that are as blue as the sky. Oh, what a place! I start to descend. I feared losing sight of this place. Will I ever see this place again? I am in a state of confusion. My hands were starting to warm, the warmth turned to sweat. I felt a presence over me. Suddenly and softly a hand grasped my hand and gently tugged. I recognized the touch, I heard the voice of the angel that I have lost. "Darling it's time, I've come to bring you home, to the other side with me"
********************
We thank you Kryse M. for your original insight and warmth toward our dear Barb. I know the family will appreciate your beautiful short story that you penned just for Barbara.
Our thanks for thinking of Lakewood Village once again.

Barbara

Yesterday afternoon Barbara Emard passed away in her home. Her daughter, Patti just flew in to be with her family.
Barbara was 74 years with 5 daughters who simply adored her. She will be leaving to go up north with the rest of her family.
A memorial is being planned at our Village Clubhouse for Saturday June 19 at 6:00.
The light simply dimmed when Barbara left us to be with her precious husband, Norm.
You may remember Barb as the greeter when she and Norman first moved in to our Village. She was the secretary for the then owners. What a joy it was to have her welcome everyone who came in. Then came her passion for Bingo every week. We all came to know her for her compassion in everything she did.
The Cracker Barrel knew that they had a gem in their hostess there as she was specially honored for her service years. We all went there more or less to be greeted by her personally. She was so much with it.
Her family has grown since her move here with her children, grandchildren and many other children who called her their grandma.
Our love goes out to the grieving members of this Grand Lady who is being greeted by so many loved ones who went on before her.
We hope to honor her and her family Saturday Night at 6:00 in our clubhouse......

Pot Luck Disco

Saturday Nite June 12
It was pot luck night and the disco dancers came out.
We are sorry if you missed the swingers on our night of wonderful food and
entertainment.
In case you are wondering who they are, believe me they actually live here
in our Village.
The night was short as people seemed to have other things to do but we
had the time to visit with our friends and neighbors.
Once again we want to thank our Lakewood Village Social Club for arranging
this fun evening for us.
We are looking forward to next Sunday (June 20) at 5:00 in our clubhouse
in honor of all our father's. We invite you to attend but make sure you get
your tickets from either Nancy C. or Peggi D.

Rainy week-end

A new week is coming up and the rain still continues to shower us every afternoon, We have waited all winter for this welcome rain as the lawns had started to brown. Now the grass has started already to turn green and the flowers are starting to bloom. We can all get our camera's out and check on this progress of nature.

Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's a gift.

Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

The best is yet to come.

and last but not least,,,,

Growing old beats the alternative-dying young.
