Grandmama

As of noon today we now have grandmama back
here in the Village.
She is doing quite well but will have to be very
careful with her activities.
We now have another miracle to celebrate as
she will be with us for sometime yet.
For the time being she will be staying at
A19 until such time that she can stay by
herself. I will keep her here as long as she
will let me. heehee.
We want to express our deepest thanks for
all the prayers and inquires that everyone has put
in for our wonderful Grandmama.
May God bless each and everyone of you...

and the family will make sure
she gets them.
The family also thanks everyone
for their well-wishes
and prayers.

Thanks giving

I will take this time to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. I know this is the time that we all find something that we are thankful for.
Our family is thankful for all the wonderful friends that we have in our beautiful Village.
Please take a moment and look around at the many blessings that are bestowed up on you.
Tomorrow doesn't need to be the only day of the year to be thankful for but it is a special one.
Good luck with your day and enjoy your turkey.

Grandmama

Sorry I have been unable to report to much on Mom's condition. This morning they will be doing more surgery to repair some of the damage that has been done to the heart. She is holding up well as her family refuses to let her do otherwise.
Perhaps tomorrow there will be some better news.
We thank you all for your prayers as we know that is what is keeping her going.

God Bless you all,
Thanks Diane for keeping us informed.......

Sad News today

I was just informed of the passing of a dear old friend
who has been a long time resident in our Village.
William Roberts, age 82 left us with many memories
and a lovely wife Florence. They have resided at #6
for many years.
He had been ill for a short time.
Bill, to many who knew him, was always working around
his beautiful yard and you could see him riding his bike
around our park.
Bill leaves us a wonderful family and you know very well
his son Jeff. Jeff and Joyce live close by his mother and they
have helped us with so many functions.
There are also 3 other sons who will be here to comfort the
family.
Services will not be held here but up North with the rest of
his family.
Florence will be around for a while so anyone can stop by
and tell her something wonderful that you remember about
her sweetheart.
Our hearts and prayers go out to this special family.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My thanks to Barb E. for letting us know what had happened.
have not laughed.
Ron's home
Ron S. is now home from the hospital.
~~~
Things are going well with Ron and
we can expect him out on his
scooter anytime.
With all the extra air that he is taking in
he will be jumping around the
Village any moment now.
~~~
It is so good to see him moving around
with ease once again.
Red Hatters
Your Queen Mother Peg D. held her court on Thursday with wonderful ideas coming in the future.
They will be competing in a city wide competition with other chapters and need to create a centerpiece to be auctioned off next month. I understand that Debbie C. has volunteered her creative services. Way to go Deb. I know it will be the best.
Historian, Nettie N. will be accepting notes and etc. from our Village. Just let her know if you have any pictures or other goodies to put in their book.
~~
Dec. 6 will be one busy day for these gals as they will be going to several activities all day and will be in the Christmas parade.
Let's give them a big hand for all their efforts in having a wonderful time.
Successful Sunday
The Lakewood Village first open Pot Luck dinner
was held on Sunday in an almost full house.
Everyone brought their most delicious dishes to
share with the 65 to 70 hungry people.
Your committee had decorated the mile long table with
checkered cloths and the silverware was wrapped in
Thanksgiving colors.
Most impressive.
The dinner was blessed by Rick D. who does such
a fine compliment to all those present.
The buffet was one that was orderly and swiftly so
that each was served quickly.
Golly...what wonderful choices that each had to
contend with.
Our hats are off to the committee who took the time and
efforts to allow us to enjoy a Sunday dinner.
A 50/ 50 drawing was held and the lucky winner was a
dear friend, Bo A. We know he will enjoy his winnings.
~~~
On another note...
We missed many people who were not able to attend and
found out that Ron S. was in the hospital. His wife Eleanor
and her two sons brought her. We will keep Ron in our prayers
for a swift recovery.
Martha M. looked wonderful in spite of her scare the night before
and we were so relieved that things are going better for her.
Your reporter was a little under the weather but everyone
was so nice that I'm sure that we all had a wonderful time
together.
Thank you.
~~~
Have a happy day today!
Enjoy it because you got up this morning.
Pot Luck
Sunday is the big Day
~~~
These are some of foods needed for our 1st annual
POT LUCK dinner
being held in our beautiful clubhouse this
Sunday at 12:00. noon....
We encourage all who can attend and to bring
your favorite dish to share with everyone.
This has been announced several times but
we invite all to attend so that you
might get to know your neighbors just
a little better.
The check list indicated that there will plenty
of meat dishes being brought so the side
dishes are needed.
Thank You.

Here and There.

Just a catch up on the week-end.
~~~
The Bunco group had and outstanding turnout and I'm
sorry I was unable to attend.
I have had reports that this was one of the biggest groups
this year and we owe it to our wonderful guys who were
brave enough to join us.
Our thanks to such a great team.
~~
We also had a flag raising event yesterday that wasn't
advertised and attended by such a small group.
Again I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend but I was told
it was very impressible and our hearts go out to all of those who
deserved this attention.
~~~
My thanks to those who read Lakewood Village Blog and
make comments to us. This is intended to inform you on
the activities and the past times in our Village.
If you would like people to know what is happening here or
around us, please don't hesitate to let me know and I will
try to communicate with the Village.
~~~
Peg D. is instructing the water exercise program in our
beautiful pool. Mondays at 8:30 am, Wednesday and Fridays
at 9:00 am. Don't pass up a wonderful exercise program.
Also your Line Dancing is going on at 10:00 am on Mondays
in the clubhouse. They really have a good time along with a lots
of laughs. Just show up and you too will have a ball.
~~~
Bocci Ball
This will start officially after the 1st of Dec. but everyone
is ready for some practice. The comes right after Coffee hour which
starts at 9:00. If you wish to get a little instruction just come over
and if you know how perhaps help with some of novices.
If you can roll a ball you certainly qualify. See you
there on Tuesday. Pete will be on hand to help with anything
that might trouble you.
~~
Don't forget our potluck on Sunday as this will be a good
mixer with good food and wonderful conversation.
Hope to see you there in our Clubhouse..
~~~
Life is what you make of it.
Kinda like PLAY -DOH...
Happy Birthday from all of us in the Village.
~~
This afternoon our neighbors pulled up to their house
and were they surprised. It had changed a little. Of course
this was due to their neighbors decorating.
John and Grace G were welcomed back by everyone when
they drove up.
They all did a lot of laughing as they were just happy to
be back.
Great to see you back in our Village..
Thanks to Gail and Connie for all their hard work and
especially for the mold on their driveway....
Veterans Day
President D. Eisenhower
Proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day
Did you know that most Americans confuse Veterans day with
Memorial Day?
Veterans Day gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the
bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. However, most
Americans confuse this holiday with Memorial Day.
Memorial Day honors service members who died in service to their
country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle.
Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day but the
day is set aside to thank and honor living Veterans who served
honorably in the military-in wartime or peacetime.
~~~
November 11Th is the day we as citizens will observe this
powerful day.
Please take the time and reflect on this National holiday.
In Canada, this is their remembrance day so they will be observing
this with us.
May you have a wonderful and personal day remembering all
that we have.

News from Coffee Hour

The Coffee pot was full today.
~~~
Your Social Club presented their 1st Tuesday of the
We all had our blood pressures taken and the prize
We were all so happy for her.
~~~~
Announcements made concerning up coming
events:
This Thurs the Red Hatters will be having
a meeting in the clubhouse. Check with the Queen...
At 7:oo your social club will be having an
important meeting. It will be one that you should
attend.
~~
We were happy to welcome back several of our residents:
Robin & Beth, Ray & Martha, & Percy.
We now have new residents in 308. We hope that they
will come to more of our activities.
~~~
We haven't had word about any Veteran's day
activities yet but perhaps after the Social Club's
meeting on Thursday we will be notified.
~~
Let's not forget to sign up for our First Potluck dinner
on the 16th. The book is in the clubhouse or let Delores H.
or Peg D know of your intentions.
~~
I was just informed about the passing of Willis Parsons.
He had been a RO resident at #300.
His wife Betty will be coming down this winter to spend
some time with us if all goes well.
Our condolences are with her and her family.
~~~
This Thursday is the start of Golf so keep this in
mind when you wake up on Thurs. morning.
This is wonderful exercise and the company
is outstanding.
