Happy Birthday

BIRTHDAY BUNCH!!

On June 3rd these happy 3 people will celebrate their birthdays.

Of course the year is different but they all will experience the joy of spending the day with their families and friends.
If you see any of them, make sure you embarrass them and give
them each a big HUG.

You know them as Jim M. Pat F. Eleanor S.

Happy Birthday and may you all have a wonderful day

Resident News

It is wonderful when our residents let me

know what is happening to them and their

families.

Hazel P. informs me that she is still fighting
a cold and Ed is having problems with his BP
so she is staying busy at her place.
Her sister Dorothy M.
is having a rough time and not feeling to well either.
Perhaps that northern weather is just not setting
too well with them.
Wish you were here!
Talked to John & Jessie C
and he is waiting on test results to see what they
can do for him. Mon. is the day!!!!!!!!
They are waiting anxiously for these
as they have wonderful plans for the summer and
we want them to feel good. Will let you know how he comes out.
Keep going.....
Cindy J.
was just here and visited with all of us.
She is a good friend of many years with Ron
and Eleanor S. and their family.
Her place is just around the corner from them
so we all saw her scooting around daily.
She spends several visits yearly with us and
it is always a pleasure to see her.
Looking forward to her return this fall.
Marthamae S
is now living in Stuart in an assisted living
complex. I understand she is quite happy there
and we are sad she is not here to grace our conversations
What a gallant lady!
John & Grace G.
are doing great. John has been following the Doctor's
advice and getting lots of exercise and practicing those
swings. We hope to see him on the golf course this fall.
They have been busy with the family and just having fun.
If you have any news that you would like to share with your
Village, let me know and will try to let everyone know what is
happening. Have a great day and be happy....

Fatal Accident Services planned

Yesterday we lost another one of our residents.

Dawn Kanlic (Aka Dawn M Tan) was taken from
us in a terrible car accident on Oslo Rd.

Dawn hadn't been a resident to long in our
Village but the neighbors were getting to know
her and taking her to some of our activities.
You might have seen her walking her little dog
and having a chat with her.

Today our prayers are with her mother and
family.
Services will be held Monday June 2 at 10:00
in the morning. St. Helen's Chapel will be the
host for anyone who wishes to attend.
Dawn lived at #259 and was 40 years old.
Nancy D is accepting donations to the family so
let her know if you wish to help.
May God bless her...
update: At least 12 people from the Village went to St. Helen's church to pay
their last respects to Dawn. It was a beautiful tribute to one of our own.
Thank you..Now may she rest in peace.

Father's Day event

Social Club President

Your Village Social Club is planning a lunch on
June 15th in the Clubhouse
They will be letting us know very soon as to what
it will be all about. I do know that the
Board will be doing the hosting and that they
have a wonderful and tasty menu planned.
Keep this date open so all you resident fathers
and your family can attend.
This is always a fun way to spend the day with your father.
They will be putting this in the June Swan so
watch for this announcement.
Time and Price to follow.

What about you???

\ I think I finally found the right bumper sticker.....Sorry if this was taken the wrong way. It was intended for National and not local. Our RO president deserves praise and we all do appreciate the fine work he is doing.
Perhaps you could let him know when you see him... We all thank you...

The Beatty's have arrived

Diane & Keith
Your Editor-in-Chief has taken a well deserved vacation and I have heard of the adventure to their summer home. It sounded like they had a very long but exciting run thru the whole Midwest and up to the Northwest. I know we all wish them a wonderful summer and look forward to hearing of what their summer is like.
Diane writes:
We had a nice trip - - if a fast one. We stopped in and visited Keith's Mom in Indiana for a few days, then on to Missouri and visited his Daughter. We left there on a Sunday and went thru the rest of Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and then spent 2 days in Pendleton, Oregon before heading on West to Hwy 101.... Keith had a visit to the ER in Corvallis, Oregon because of a rash we couldn't figure out that stayed for days and kept getting worse. Turns out he got into some poison oak somewhere... We had a wet but entertaining ride down the West Coast on 101, stopping in several scenic places. We had wonderful weather - except for a little (comparatively) storm - until it got rather dreary on the last day. (But that is the Oregone Coast for you!!LOL) As far as gas prices.... the highest was Florida and Oregon - lowest was in Wyoming....

We made it to our summer home on Friday, got unpacked and were immediately welcomed by friends and neighbors! We had an enjoyable evening and got to work on Saturday...

We've been busy getting our lawn furniture out and deciding on what "Projects" we are going to work on this summer. Planted a few flowers and bought some veggies to put out....

We are glad to be out of the car but look forward to
seeing everyone in the fall!
Hope you enjoy your summer and we are thinking of you.

A Time of Reflection

I hope you are enjoying this much deserving
holiday and remembering what it is all about.
We probably are partaking in some fun with
the picnics and family reunions but it also is
such a time to go back and think of all those
who gave their lives for our country and who
left this world much to soon.

We as a large family here in the Village have
so much to remember and be thankful for
that we tend to forget what this day is for.
Hopefully you will take a moment and go
back into time and think what a wonderful
life we were given and to share.

We have a beautiful day to enjoy and hope
for a happy, healthy and wonderful time
for all.

Happy Anniversary

Our congratulations to one of our
finest couples in the Village!
Ron and Eleanor S. will be celebrating their
65th wedding day with all of us in their
hearts.

You read about them in our latest Swan and
we were impressed with their life and accomplishments
with their family and with the Village.

So if you see them in the next few days be sure
you let them know what a great honor it is
to be a friend of theirs.
I know I will.

David & Beverly

Had a wonderful and
surprising phone call this afternoon!

Bev reported that they had made it to their
northern home safely and in good health.
Their trip back up north was an interesting
and beautiful run thru N. Carolina where
they visited with family and friends.

Then on up to New Jersey where the trees were
fabulously in bloom! She commented that the
state never looked better.

They already have their garden in and the
flowers were blooming glorious. The weather
has been warm during the days but the evenings
were are cool and wonderful for sleeping.

The puppies did a great job of traveling but
were happy to be back where they could run
all day in the fenced area.

Their granddaughter now has a driving permit
and guess whose auto she is learning to drive with...
YEP... you guessed it. Grandpa's truck. What a great
grandpa or maybe a brave grandpa..

Gas prices were up and down all the way but
they were still less than what we have to
pay here!! They are back at one of their
favorite past-times, garage sales,
once again. WAY to go..

Bev is a very supportive member of our Bunco,
and other Village activities
and Dave is very active on our R.O. board.

Hope they have a wonderful summer and we already
miss these two fine Village people. We look
forward to when they return.

And how is your vacation going?

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to our Canadian Gail ...

Hope you have a wonderful and fun

day on your ????birthday. We all

wish you the very best today...From all your Bunco friends Including me
Thanks for coming Bo.
We invite all you guys to come.

Sad News today

This morning a dear friend and neighbor was
called to heaven to be with his many friends.
He was a good, kind person with so many
qualitites that we know he is now in a quiet
place. As his neighbor I know we will miss
Joseph Timlin of A 15.
There aren't many of his family here so
Bo & Pat A have kept me updated on his
condition and we appreciate all you have
done for this fine man.
Keep all our close Lakewood Villagers in
your prayers as we are all family.

Just In

Unhappy news were just brought to my
attention:

John C. will be entering the Hospital this
Monday for detailed tests. He hasn't been
feeling well and this seems to be what must
be done.
Please keep John & Jessie in your thoughts and
prayers. Will let you know the progress
when I hear from them...
Sorry I don't have a picture but you can
scroll down to the picture of his birthday
with his grandchild.
Cards can be sent to Lot 31.

What's happening

Things have slowed way down but we still have
some very energetic people keeping everything
going.

Bunco at 7:00 on Monday nights. Bring a friend
to enjoy this fast, fun, and fantastic friendship
evening.

Bingo at 5:30 on Tuesday nights. Lots of prizes
to be won. Come join in with your neighbors for
an evening of chatter and perhaps you could be
the lucky winner.

Michigan Rummy at 1:00 on any Thursday afternoon.
Anyone can play this game but be sure to bring
your pennies. Lots of laughter I'm sure you will have.

Swimming is still available to all residents and their
guests. The water is beautiful and hardly crowded.
Be sure to wear your badges. Make sure you read the
rules and please follow them.

Picnic area is waiting for you to plan that day out
with your family and friends. Grill is there for your
use along with tables. While you are there try your
hand at a little shuffleboard.

Out of shape? Why not try our exercise room in our
new Activity Bldg. Machines are available just for you.

Saw Bob O out riding his bike followed by his granddaughter,
Gracie. He looks good and says he is following his Doctor's
orders. Limited exercise and plenty of sunshine.
Good to see you back and around.

Joe T. is not feeling to well. He has some visitors but
he really is under the weather. Keep him in your thoughts.

Marthamae is still not up and running yet. Will keep you
informed when more news reach me... Please........

The Social Club held their monthly meeting and will be
letting us know whatever they have planned. We are all
anxiously waiting for whatever next they cooked up for us...

I hear we have an engaged couple living in our mist...Do you
know who they are????

Happy Mother's Day

We hope you all had an enjoyable and exciting
day with your Mother or as did a lot of our
residents and came to our beautiful Brunch
that was held in our nearly full clubhouse.

John D and his very capable staff served
each a very lovely meal that was not only
timely but plentiful and hot.
Thank you Nancy D. for your tribute to all mothers.
We congratulate Delores H on winning
the 50/50 and hope she dosen't spend it all in 1 place!!

We also found out that dreams do really
come true for our Mothers when Bo & Pat A
brought his motorcycle in for Nettie to
have her first ride on a real bike. This was
a surprise to everyone and boy did she have
a wonderful ride around the park. We could
see her waving to all and smiling the whole time.
Bo & Nettie

Our deepest thanks for all the work these
cooks, servers and hosts did.
John you did an outstanding job.
So-how was your special day????

A Huge Thank You

I would like to thank everyone that helped make Norman's party a huge success. It was standing room only. Leave it to Norman to fill the club house plumb full. Thank you to the following people: Jeff and Joyce Roberts, Nancy and Lou Connors, Elizabeth and Karina Balderas, John W. Cox, Sr. for all the help in the kitchen; Kryse Manson, Manager made a beautiful picture album; Russell McDonald for helping set up tables; and also to all the wonderful people, too many to name for all the GOOD food. I think this was so much fun to see everyone happy and talking with each other ~ Lakewood Village family. We would like also to thank Reverend Bill Mead & his wife, Karen, for the song and service; Debbie Calvert for the card basket. If I left anyone off please forgive me, it was not done on purpose.
God Bless Our Lakewood Village Family.

Happy Mother's Day

Yep! that's Nettie!

Come this Sunday, we will be celebrating
a special day to honor all our Mothers. Doors
open at 11:00 am. at the Village Clubhouse.
Be sure to put in you RSVP with
John D so that he can plan for everyone~

Can you believe it? 5 Generations!!

and 3 generations live here in the Village

I have the greatest honor! To be with my
Mother on this wonderful day.
You all know her in our Village as
Nettie and Grandmama,
she is seen at all of our functions. No one is
more active and bubbly than this
extraordinary woman of many talents.

She is surrounded by not only her many
friends here at home, but by her
blessed and loving family. We are very
grateful to our Oueen of mothers living
right here with us.

You undoubtedly have seen her peddling by
your place several times a day.

We all have this day to stop and think how
much we love our Mother's and what better
way to show it than to adopt one (any one)
who may need your love.

See you Sunday at the Clubhouse~

Who knows if maybe dreams really do come true.

Happy Mother's Day...

Happy Celebration..

Today the Village clubhouse held host to a
standing room only crowd as so many
came to pay their respects to the the
Emard family.

Bill and Karen M. conducted a tribute to Norman
and his wonderful caring family. The entire room
was silent as Karen sang several beautiful songs.
They brought tears to many.
Bill blessed the outstanding brunch and
our whole community. The food was wonderful
and certainly plentiful! It was certainly well
thought-out and well organized. The serving
team kept the platters full and even kept huge smiles
on their faces as they paid Norm this last tribute.

Bill read a letter from Patty that was a wonderful and
humorous summary of their life. Thank you Patty.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to those who willingly
spent the last few days fixing and
serving such an appreciative
time of friendship and love.

We know he was with us the whole time and saying
"Great job Barbara and thanks for fixing me my
favorite last meal. " We all know he
is watching to see how "his" Village flourishes.
It was a truly a wonderful tribute to Norm
from the many, many lives he touched.
Good-by and my love to all.................................................barb

update on those in the Park

Had some good words on several of our residents
that have been under the weather these pass few
weeks:
Bob O is back home after some surgery this past
week and seems to be doing well. Perhaps you
could stop by and have a chat with the big guy.
Glad to have you back home.

Miss Sally B. is back to her house and mighty
happy to be back home. We know she misses
seeing the people around her. Perhaps you
could call her and find when she could visit
with you. Way to go missy....

Have an address for our Joseph Tillman (A15)
The center is between Georgia & Delaware St.
off Okeechobee & Virginia Ave, in Ft. Pierce, Fl
You can mail him a card at 611 S. 13th St.
Room #30. He has been rather ill for some time
and would appreciate any cards you send.
Good Luck Joey.......

Marthame S. is now home after a stay in the
hospital and we sure do wish her a healthy
and happy week. We miss her wonderful
conversations at our functions and look
forward to her attending future ones.

Had notes from several of our former residents:
You all remember Hazel P & Ed, they have been
long time residents in the E section and have
returned north to be by Hazel's sister, Dorothy
M. whom also lived here for many years. The
family is doing just fine but have some rough
moments, so we are keeping them in our
prayers.

Ruth B. is home up north with her family and
is doing just fine. Really surprised as how well
things looked down here. Such a long winter and
really regret now not coming back to sunny Florida
and their second home in Lakewood Village.

John and Grace are faithful informants to me
and are so interested in what is happening to
all of us. They try to keep e-mailing me and
phone calls as to what they are up to. Both
really miss not being down here with all
their friends and adoptive family. We keep
them in our prayers daily.......

Mr. & Mrs. Michael Palazzo

Lookie Lookie.....
Mikie & Rita will be celebrating
their 61st...Wedding Anniversary on Saturday the 10th of May.
They will be winning and dining the night away at the I.P.
Those close to them know just what I'm
talking about.

The Village wishes them only the best of luck
in all they do......................barb
hugs to you both

New building

This is what the new activities building

now looks like. There have been

previous pictures posted on the

progress and now we have the

finished project. Check out the

hours and perhaps the rules.

Good Luck......

We Did It....

As of this morning, we received our
certificate of occupancy, yeh really, and now our brand
new Activity Bldg. is open for all of L.V residents to enjoy.
This has been a long awaited event so we are
anxious to inspect this beautiful building.
We really must give credit to the R.O. board for
working so hard at getting this ready. We can't
forget our office manager,Kryce, who has worked
so many hours with everybody and kept her
staff on the ball. We really thank you....
There will be a grand opening in the coming
weeks so keep a close watch for this celebration.
Good Luck everyone, now go and enjoy your
activities..
I will load a picture of the building when one
becomes available.................barb
